Case File Entry 012: Healing and Christmas Preperations

Dec 16, 2009 17:44

This winter island is a strange place. There's trees here that actually grow candy canes and cookies... And not too long ago I discovered there was a cocoa hot spring just outside of the town here. While this is really bizarre, everyone seems to be having a nice time here. My shoulder is getting better, while I am able to move my arm more easily ( Read more... )

Of course now that you've alerted her, Yachiru is going to devour it all.

Hmm?
I'm listening.

She seems like someone who likes candy, heh.

About those fruits... Has anyone turned them in to the Marines previously?

Wait till she ransacks your office looking for some.

... No. Why?

Hopefully she won't mistake my cigs for candy. Since that's all I have.

I see... I got a tip from a source that someone tried to turn in some fruits taken from this Crocodile person, but the marines who took them turned around and possibly sold them on the black market.

Doubtful, she's got a sort of canine nose for these things.

... A tip...?
Hm.
Nico Robin? Still... she didn't mention it directly...
It wouldn't be... unheard of for some marines to do that but if we're dealing with a simple case of Black Market, the fruits might be much more widespread than any of the marines thought. The original reason to confiscate them was to prevent anyone from getting ahold of the seeds and growing even more.

I'm afraid I don't know how the black market works here, but if they are being sold through it there could be more than just the batch Tashigi and I confiscated previously.

I was also told about another former pirate... Do you know someone called Flamingo?

Far more. If they're already on the Black Market there's no means of recovering them all. Or tracing them to the source. There'd be too many sources. Damn.

.... Doflamingo? He's a shichibukai. What the hell would he want with it?

Yeah... The only way to shut that down would be trying to find the puppet master of the whole ordeal, but that's going to be difficult, not to mention dangerous.

Apparently this source told me Crocodile doesn't have anything to do with this, or couldn't, and that someone is trying to operate this smuggling as a means to frame him. They suggested Doflamingo might be the kind of guy to do such a thing.

I don't give a damn about the danger. But if what you say is true and someone turned them into the marines who in turn sold them on the black market, there wouldn't be any puppet masters. Even chasing every new thread, the seeds would spread and going back to the original marines who sold them to the black market in the first place will do nothing to stop the rest. But I'll put in a request for a formal inquiry.

.... This source? Tch. Robin...
Doflamingo was after Crocodile for years trying to get him to work with him. They're both puppet masters but even Crocodile has standards beyond that filth. If Doflamingo is dealing black market fruits as a mean of showing up Crocodile it could very well explain the marine connection but... I'm giving you a direct order on this Zenigata. Follow your justice as you see fit but do not go after Doflamingo without a mountain of proof to back you up. He's a shichibukai and the brass will not take yet another one being discredited so soon after Crocodile, particularly not from someone in my

Thanks, hopefully those things haven't been spread out as far as we feared.

I understand, Smoker. I'm not going to just rely on this lead., don't worry. I'm going to do some more digging to see if I come up with anything that could prove me wrong or point me into this Don's direction. I'm also asking Lavi to look up a few things for me.

We shall see but I doubt they can be truly isolated at this point.

Right. Doflamingo tch. Don't get even close to him if you can avoid it.
Ask Lavi to look up what exactly?

We'll see, just as you said.

I wanted him to look at shipment information for the markets here on the island, see if he could find anything out of the ordinary. I also want him to look into anything about the orchards and farms close by.

I see. Well I doubt they'd be growing anything we've been seeing on a winter island.
