Getting back on my feet

Sorry, again, for the lack of posts. I know I write that a lot. Every time I make the steps to get back on my feet (both literally and figuratively) something comes along and knocks me back down. Mom just had some major surgery, so I've been spending nearly all of my spare time helping her out and taking care of her five parrots. I'm happy to do this, of course, but I'm just feeling drained and tired. Dad's not doing too well, so some days, it's a real struggle to keep going.
I haven't had a chance to create much, but I did get around to finishing another set of socks - I'm totally addicted! This is "Embossed Leaves" from Interweave's sock book. The pattern only looks tricky! I'm pleased with how this turned out - I splurged a bit on the yarn and found some lovely sock yarn at a new yarn shop near me. It's a real pleasure to treat my feet to soft sock yarn. Lord knows my feet deserve some soothing since I've injured both of them rather badly this year!
In the meantime, I'm just trying to let myself rest after taking care of Mom. Today is the first free day I had to myself in quite a long time, so I think I'll go try and make a few ATCs now...
