Beta-test rules changes specific to this game:
- As with the Sharing a Roof game, players earn geussing stones by making koans and can spend them to take rule guesses. However, in this game a student's most recent koan does not need to be marked before the student can geuss the rule. Heck, a student can post a guess without haveing had any koans marked. Yes, this would allow a new player to get a "drive-by win", but that's a danger I'm will to live with for this game. Guessing stones will be tracked here in the top-level message.
- If you're not going to wait for me to mark your koan before you guess the rule, please put the koan and rule guess in separate messages. This just makes the master's life a little easier. Koans get responses where the subject is the marking stone color, while rule guesses get responses where the subject is the untranslated guess. Putting koans and rule guesses in separate messages keeps this clean.
- As with regular Zendo, if a rule guess is contradicted by koans already on the table, the student gets the guessing stone back. One side effect of this is that you can set up a koan in one message and guess the rule immediately in another, but if the rule guess is contradicted by the way the koan gets marked then the rule guess is void and the guessing stone is returned. This implicitly allows the student to make spending a stone to guess the rule conditional on guessing how the koan will be marked. If the student is right, the guess is made; if the student is wrong, the rule is contradicted and the stone is returned.
- A student may have only one koan and one rule guess pending at any one time. i.e. you can't take another rule guess until I've set up a counter-example to your first guess. This DISallows the double-conditional rule guess. i.e. "If that gets marked black, then AKHTBNI it has more then three reds. If it's white, then AKHTBNI it has more than two reds." Note: The order of posting the koan and rule guess doesn't matter. i.e. A student may set up koan while a rule guess is pending (as long as they don't have a koan already pending too).
And now, on with the game.
Koan 1: An upright tower made of (bottom to top) a large blue, a small green, a small green, and a small yellow. Black stone.
Koan 2: An upright medium red. A flat medium red pointing away from the upright with the nearest edges parallel. Finally, a large red with one edge of it's base grounded and it's tip resting on the flat medium. The square face of the large is perpendicular to the table. The large red points at both of the mediums. White stone.
(By the way, if you change the "jpg" to "pov" in the URL of any of my ray-traced pics you can see the source for it.)
