I didn't think this weekend would be super busy but, as per usual, I'd forgotten things were happening. Like Jen coming to stay! In fact I'm waiting for her right now. At the last message she said she'd be an hour or two several hours ago so ... maybe soon. Once we work out what hours Jen and Rob are likely to be awake we can work out when people could come visit.
Nikki, my brother's partner, is in Melbourne this weekend with her mother and sister. We were going to go out tonight but they were all tired and shopped-out, so I suggested that Nikki and I do something tomorrow afternoon, just the two of us, so she has a break from them. Travelling with family can be pretty wearing.
Then Sunday I'm having a report writing day with workmates and they're coming to my house. I'm not sure how this will work with Jen and Rob, but I'm giving them my room while they're here - since they have jet lag, and I get up at 6am, it's easier if I sleep on the couch rather than me tip-toeing around them and them feeling awkward trying to sleep in the lounge room. Nothing like a space to yourself when you're travelling.
Monday is a PD day at work, so no kids, then Tuesday is more report writing and hopefully I can get most of it done and do a bit more socialising. I want to hear how Sarah and Kat enjoyed Dragon Dreaming, plus do more work on the doors/house/garden and all the other million jobs, like making a decent chicken enclosure.
Today at work we had snail races and the kids had 20 points to bet across 3 races. Nearly all agreed afterwards that gambling was for chumps - even the kids who won the most. We made an excellent graph that showed the spread of the results. Only lately have I come to realise how much I love statistics and graphing. It sounds like it's a boring thing, but any time I get the chance to graph something I jump at it. And I've been surveying the kids all the time this year, I suspect they think I'm insane.
