Another thing I'm beginning to learn about myself.

While it's a huge chunk of money, I don't really get worked up over, say, a $50-$100 parking ticket because I so stupidly left my car on a curb during a street-washing day. I just pay it and go.

However, paying even a $15 fine to replace a missing item that I did not even touch the few days leading up to its disappearance infuriates me enough that I'm willing to kick a dog's teeth in.

(Backstory: Two things were supposed to arrive in the mail over the weekend - a pair of duplicate contact lenses, sent to my parents' office, and a new movie from Netflix, to my house. Neither of them were present when I came back from a friend-seeing visit to San Francisco. My mother doesn't care, and my sister won't bother to recollect what mail came in the house since I left.)

It's one thing if I have to take a financial hit for my own ignorance or stupidity, even if it sinks me into debt. But when I have to claim even a negligible amount of responsibility for someone else's irresponsibility?
