Season 8/hiatus AU. When Dick Roman dies and Dean vanishes along with all their allies, Sam turns off his phone and abandons the hunting life to search for his brother. Working out of abandoned houses, he combs libraries and stalks Death's favorite eateries looking for answers, desperate to find Dean. Bobby is gone, Death tells him nothing, and by the time Jody Mills finds Sam again he's about to do the unthinkable. But only at rock-bottom does Sam begin to think the key might lie in his dreams. If his brother is in Purgatory, then Sam will find a way to crawl in and drag him out, even if it means changing them both forever.
