Chapter 30
Katherine
Later that evening, there was a celebration held in Shipwreck City. Despite the fact I had been given a hero's welcome - warm, with roaring plaudits - I did not at all feel like celebrating.
ZeldaQueen: Ah yes, the stereotypical post-battle brooding, in which the hero/heroine decides that they're not worthy of the honor until someone showers them with praise so they think otherwise. Gethesemane, that's the last thing Kate needs
I instead stole to a small room, hardly larger than a galley, adjacent to Conclave Hall, that looked out over the moonlit sea. The waters were still, the breeze calm and sweetly scented.
ZeldaQueen: Was it also tinged with purple?
I felt...numb. I had lost a man I loved, and, while I knew that he was happy, I could not help but feeling so mournful. I would never see him again.
ZeldaQueen: Which is a blessed relief for him, I'm certain
"It's quite rude, you know," said a familiar voice from the doorway, "not to attend a party given in your honor."
ZeldaQueen: Nah, the Sue can get away with anything. Even murder, apparently
Jack sat down beside me. "What's the matter, love?"
I looked at him. "I lost a dear friend today, Jack."
ZeldaQueen: So did the rest of us. We shall all miss canon so
His cheerful disposition changed immediately as tears began to stream down upon my face.
"C'mere," he said softly, opening his arms to me.
ZeldaQueen: Yes, because someone like Jack would say "C'mere". The twentieth century called. They want their lingo back
I came into his arms,
ZeldaQueen: Well that's squicky
quietly sobbing against his chest.
ZeldaQueen: Is it just me, or does she sound like a baby that needs Daddy to hold and comfort her after she skinned her knee?
"You saved us all," he whispered to me. "You've saved the freedom, the sea...and so many lives.
ZeldaQueen: Except for the part where she totally didn't because now the sea has no goddess and...oh fuck it. We're almost done, what do I care?
Where he is, he's happy."
ZeldaQueen: Yes, because he's finally away from you!
I looked up at him. "You must think me childish."
ZeldaQueen: *glances at previous remark* No comment
He shook his head. "No. I think you're the most courageous woman I've ever met...and a bit daft to boot."
ZeldaQueen: *snorts* A "bit" daft? Try flat-out idiotic! And courageous my ass. My dog's more courageous than you, and see hides under the table at the slightest hint of fireworks going off!
I smiled despite myself.
"There's my Kate," he said with a small smile.
I embraced him once again. "I love you, Jack Sparrow."
ZeldaQueen: Well, we are a little bipolar, aren't we?
He returned the gesture. "And I love you, Katherine Sparrow."
ZeldaQueen: And I hate you both
The following morning, we prepared to board; not, however, before Captain Teague arrived at the docks, much to the crew's surprise.
"Your father would be proud of you," he said to me.
ZeldaQueen: I just find that hilarious, because I've seen the fourth movie, and I know how the canon Blackbeard in there treated his daughter. Six pistols, two loaded anyone?
I smiled. "Thank you."
He glanced at Jack. "And you, Jackie. Don't lose sight of the treasure before you."
Jack looked at me, pulling me tightly to his side. "I can barely keep my eyes off said treasure to begin with."
Captain Teague snorted softly.
ZeldaQueen: Are we all going to laugh? Is that going to be how we end this thing?
"You've done more for pirates than any man before you," Teague continued as he looked at me once again. "You've saved us all, our seas, and our freedom."
ZeldaQueen: Gethesemane, I'm not going to believe that, no matter how many times you repeat it. You might as well give up
He bowed his head in reverence, and then silently left.
ZeldaQueen: *EXPLODES* OH YOU DID NOT, YOU DID NOT JUST HAVE CAPTAIN TEAGUE BOW HIS HEAD AT YOUR GOD DAMNED MARY SUE!!!
I glanced at Jack. "Perhaps he's not so bad."
"You don't know him that well," Jack muttered as he ushered me on board.
ZeldaQueen: Nonsense. He kissed the Sue's ass, and that's all that matters
We gave the crew orders to disembark, and they scuttled about to obey. Jack stepped back from the wheel, and allowed me to stand before him and place my hands upon it. I smiled at him.
"Wherever you want to go," he whispered, his hands around my middle from behind, "this ship will take you."
I glanced out over the deck to see a sunlit horizon before me, and I knew then, with certainity, that this was my future, both as a wife and a pirate.
ZeldaQueen: You just had to hammer in the wife part, didn't you Gethesemane? *glowers*
"Bring me that horizon," I whispered as I glanced behind my shoulder at Jack.
He lowered his lips to mine, and kissed me amorously and passionately, as the Black Pearl sailed towards the very horizon of our destiny.
ZeldaQueen: Well, as long as we're having a lovely ending here, might I ask what happened to Will and Elizabeth? Or Bootstrap Bill, for that matter? Is he still on the Flying Dutchman? Ah well, it's not like any of them mattered. They were only major characters in the movie, after all
FINI
ZeldaQueen: THANK GOD!!!
(Author's Note: Yay! Finally, it's finished! Thank you all so much for bearing with me, and I hope you've enjoyed this story.
ZeldaQueen: ARE YOU SERIOUS??? DOES MY BLOOD PRESSURE LOOK LIKE IT ENJOYED THE STORY?
Look forward to the prequel to Heart of the Sea, and a sequel is in the works for this story as well.)
ZeldaQueen: Thankfully, those never got through

ZeldaQueen: And...it's over! That's it!!! *squees* Well, all that's left are the spite fics to be gathered. Well, that and the Sue Entries. I must catch up on those. Anyway, back to Patch and Nora and Zoey Redbird after this. Don't expect any more Gethesemane any time soon. I'm taking a break from her. Have a good night, ladies and gentlemen!!!
