Dude, seriously, being tiny isn't all that bad. I was tiny. I was (and still am) smaller than average. Granted, it's not because of neglect (mixture of genes and being on medicine all my life) but I never realized just how bloody tiny I was until I was in my teens and I looked at pictures of myself as a child. Holy shit, I could have given the sue a run for her money on being tiny but...I DIDN'T CARE. I STILL don't care. Are there some setbacks to being small? Of course, no one takes me seriously and it pisses me off. I don't angst about it though! Being smaller than average isn't that big of a deal, I wish she would shut the fuck up about it. I thought women LIKED being tiny >.>...

Holy shit, Holly is level with Bella and Edward for sociopathy. Making a joke about something getting killed? Regardless of the reason, that's sick. Poor Buckbeak, I hope he does die so he can escape this crap.

I think the suethor was trying to set up Holly's height as her berserk button or something (she was pissy about it before), but it does come across as stupid.

Unfortunately he does not. x( He serves his canon purpose but, much like with the case of Dobby, the suethor makes it happen in a way that makes her "heroes" look like jerks.

Yeah, I know she's been hitting that horse for a bit. It's stupid because there is a way to make the height thing a realistic sounding issue. Holly could be annoyed no one takes her seriously, because she's tiny and child-like. She has to ask for people's help on things because she's not strong/tall enough, and it interfers with her independence. Or maybe people constant make fun of her about her height and the jokes are getting stale. I mean, really, other than the simple fact that she's tiny and waif-like, who cares if she's short? How does it hinder her in any way? Personally, if people treated me all doll-like and crap like her friends do, I would be honestly pissed and annoyed. It's fucking teeth grinding when people don't treat you like an adult just because you don't look like one. But then again, we all know she secretly likes it, and never ACTS like an adult, so it's a moot point.

Yeah, that's just it. And that's the problem with her behavior towards most of these things - we don't get any feeling to it. We don't get a reason why she hates being called short, we don't get a feeling why she doesn't accept Hermione and Ron's apologies, and we don't get a feeling why she hates on Hagrid or Mrs. Weasley so much. It's bad writing.

"ZeldaQueen: He then stirred, added a few spices, and offered the remains to Mrs. Lovett. It was their understanding the Sue Pies were sickeningly sweet, but good for an occasional guilty pleasure".
Best. Line. Ever.

So...if the blood wards aren't working at all, doesn't that mean somebody could just walk into Privet Drive and kill Holly whenever they feel like it? Why hasn't that happened yet? Oh wait, it's probably because all Death Eaters are really nice people who didn't realize what they were doing before, and now they're really sorry or whatever. Bleh.

Also...Avogadro? What kind of middle name is that? Is the kid covered in moles or something?

Yes, technically. To the suethor's defense, the DE didn't start trying to kill Harry until after Voldemort came back. Most of the ones who could have didn't think Voldy was coming back and weren't going to give up their good public image for a boss that might be gone forever.

On the other hand, it means that a sporker could sneak in and get her. >:)

It really is too bad she sullied his good name because it 'sounds cool'. Really now, how many pureblood british wizards name children after italian savants who only contributed to the muggle world?

That whole "foster care" business...Tamerlaine or whatever she calls herself lifted that straight out of "Babylon 5." Can't recall exactly which episode, but it was in the first season.

Seriously? It works like here then, a cross between regular fostering and an apprenticeship?

From the Babylon 5 Wikia:

"Fosterage is an old tradition by which one or more young nobles, with the permission of his and/or her parents, is taken in by a member of an allied house. While there, they are tutored in Centauri culture and the proper decorum for those of their rank. When they come of age, the noble that fostered him and/or her can decide that the young Centauri may choose whomever they wish to marry, regardless of their families' wishes. The more powerful the noble willing to take the child in, the greater honour on his or her family. Once a common practice, it has fallen out of use, but is still considered legally binding."

This in turn is semi-based on the European chivalric tradition of taking in the sons of friends as pages and squires (for their own knightly education), although it had more to do with making sure Mom and Dad didn't go too easy on the boy. However, I'm willing to bet that her concept here didn't derive from that because, after all, that's not the religion she's trying to impose on canon here.

This author has an amazing talent to find conflict where there isn't any, and ignore any actual drama.
You have superpowers? Whine about it!
Somebody wants to help you? Whine about it!

The only thing worse is her need to summarize anything that isn't directly related to her Sue's angstfests. Even her "obsession" over finding Pettigrew has never actually come up (of course, I'm not sure how she can obsess over finding someone that, as far as she knows, could be in Brazil by now).

And you can tell from the writing that she thinks she's so clever about the foster thing. You know, despite the fact that the Weasleys would have unofficially done just that if it weren't for the fact that Harry needed the protection of the fully armed and operational blood wards.

You will not be going back, Miss Potter. I can assure you of that." He said the last softly, normal sneer gone from his voice.
Please tell me it's because he poisoned her.

"Fostering?" Holly repeated, synapses sluggish as she tried to wrap her brain around such a novel concept. "What does that actually mean?"
Novel concept... pfft.

"I am aware that prosecution is out of the question at this present time, but we will most assuredly deal with your relatives at some point in the future." His dark eyes glittered malevolently in the faint light, a promise of retribution. "There are ways other than the Ministry to enact justice."
Yeah, just show up there and torture them. It's not like there are laws against that. Oh, wait, the Sue's entourage is above the law, because they're so much better.

In our next section, we find out that Blaise’s little brother was born and his name is “Xavier Avogadro Zabini”. Aside from the Xavier - what the hell kind of middle name is Avogadro? All it reminds me of is the chemist who's responsible for ( ... )
