I thought the Suethor said in the first half of the chapter that the sword belonged to Slytherin! Now not only is that being contradicted but IT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL. And nobody bothers to explain or anything, they're just like "Oh look, Gryffindor's sword even though Gryffindors in this fic are a bunch of losers who everyone hates!"

And another thing! Why did the diary get put in Ginny's cauldron if it's just a nice, sweet guy who doesn't want anybody to get hurt?

If it turns out Lucius put it there because he was forced to give her the "Lifestone" (which I hate BTW) but wanted to give her something else, too, to try and keep her safe, because he's just a big old sweetie-pie...

I'm gonna have to echo southerngaelic and go with "KILL".

I honestly have no idea at all why Lucius put the diary in Ginny's cauldron. It is never explained. NEVER. At least so far as I recall. If it was, it was done badly. I believe he only put in the Lifestone because he was forced, but that doesn't make sense either. The only reason he gave Ginny the diary in canon was he wanted to discredit Arthur by having his daughter be caught with a Dark and dangerous object.

he didn't. a "shadowy figure" snuck up behind them and did it.

That makes even LESS sense then, since we don't even know who did it, let alone why!

Okay, having finished the second book, I am astounded by some of the plot holes, and even though this is two years old, I have to rant ( ... )

Two smaller things I forgot:

1) Ron's infatuation with Holly serves no purpose other than to reinforce that every single male character will fall for her.

2) The tunnels she finds are absolutely pointless. Don't introduce plot elements that you're not going to use!

I like the Lifestone idea as well, but the infodump (I wrote infodumb and I wasn't wrong) was SO STUPID. It would have been excellent if we'd, y'know, gotten to hear a bunch of other things from Wizarding history because we're following someone who takes more after Hermione (as we are told but not shown), but it's one of those out-of-place texture things ( ... )
