Archery

[It’s high noon in Hyrule Field, and though the day is warm and inviting, the area itself is empty. The sole person in the whole of the field is the young Zora Princess, Ruto. But today, she has found something to do besides boredly wandering the field.]

[Set up several feet from where she stands is a wooden target, with a small bull’s-eye scratched into its center. Ruto herself holds a bow and arrow in hand. It is handmade, and rather crude, but the princess is proud of it. The arrows nearby are also handmade, and while it had been extremely painstaking to make all of this, and had taken up much of her time recently, she felt it would be worth the effort in the end.]

[Her aim seems to have improved since her attempt at archery during the festival, but it lands just in front of the target. Making a ‘hmph’ noise, she picks up another arrow.]

...That was a fluke, [She mutters, aiming with yet another arrow. Focus, pull back...fire!]

[...And miss.]

...Okay, that was a fluke too.

[Another arrow is snatched up from the ground, and she takes special care to make sure she’s aiming correctly. She grits her teeth as she draws it back-it takes a lot more effort to do so than it looks-and stares at the target. Now this one had to hit!]

[Ready, aim...]

[As soon as the arrow fires, she shuts her eyes, not wanting to watch it hit the grass again. But her ears are met with a different sound; the satisfying ‘thunk’ of arrow hitting wood. Looking up quickly in disbelief, she sees the arrow dug into the target. It’s missed the center by a long shot, but it’s still hit the target, and that’s good enough for her.]

[With a sudden grin, she throws a fist into the air.]

Yes! I knew it! I knew it'd hit!

[It’s only when she’s alone that she doesn’t try to hold back such excitement. But perhaps she wouldn’t bother even if people were nearby; this was great! And the happiness only doubles when another arrow hits the target, just a bit closer to the bull’s-eye.]

[Walking to the target to retrieve her arrows, she gives an earnest smile. Smug and determined, but wholly earnest.]

Now watch that stupid Ganondorf when he tries taking over...or any of his other dumb monsters too. I’m just as good a warrior as anybody else, and I won't let him do it!
