He still isn't accustomed to the sight of all of the empty wood and stone dwellings standing around. It's eerie, a permanent camp with no one to live there. It reminds him vaguely of what he saw when he and Majora slipped into the Garo Castlerock, all carefully worked stone and markings and not a single living being anywhere.
He growls in irritation at himself. He's already on edge because of the feeling of eyes on him, though that could merely be that the Void is staring at him again. He shakes his head and sits on the ground just before the wooden bridge, leaning against one of the raised stone platforms.
A little rest should help him shake off that jittery feeling.
The voice -- sound with no source -- makes him jump to his feet and go for his weapon. He has his feather in his hand before his mind manages to catch up and convince him that no one is here.
"Clocktown? I've never heard of such a place. Your homeland is clearly not mine."
He finally determines the source of the voice and looks up. There's someone up on the wall. He sighs, inwardly kicking himself for not thinking to look up; he's being lax.
"That is usually the case," Viscen says with a sigh of his own. "I watch for foul activity in the field. Monsters and unsavory characters lurk about sometimes."
"Is that where they're all hiding?" If they are there, then why does this village exist?
"I believe I'll stay out here. Your villages are just too restrictive." That may not be the best word for it, but it's all he has right now. He just can't get comfortable in a village of stone and wood.
Viscen gestures to Castletown. "It is oddly oppressive without people inside," he admits. "But it's nothing compared to the castle on the hill. It feels like something truly foul has taken residence there."
Viscen himself rarely ventures farther than the barracks, which are attached to the gate itself.
He glances through the opening again, scowling. He remembers that 'castle' well. It has a tempting whisper that is strangely like the Void's, though the castle's is much easier to ignore.
"Why build sometime so mighty only to abandon it?" He shakes his head. "Is there some way we can meet face-to-face instead of as we are?"
Lucien eyes the ladder for a long moment before slinging his pack over his shoulder and climbing it carefully. The wall is every bit as high as it looks to be.
"People must be wary of this place, then..." He glances at Viscen. "They are wary, and yet you watch it. Was it like this in your land, as well?"
This question seems to take Viscen by surprise. "No, of course not. There's just not really a closer place that this whole side of the field is visible from."
And he's right; the entrance to the mouth of Zora's Domain is even faintly visible from atop the wall.

"Hail, traveler," he calls down, a courtesy more than anything.
...Not that he minds actually seeing people. It happens less often than one would think, here.

He needs to calm down, he decides.
"May I ask who is speaking?"

A beat.
"This is not my homeland, but it is still my job to keep watch." Look up, in other words.

"What are you watching for, Viscen?"

He knows this man's name, but Viscen doesn't know his. "I am Lucien, a wanderer."

He tends to patrol, however, the entire field. Or at least the entire field as far as the roads cover it.

"My apologies. It's rare for people to wander so close to the wall."

It's kind of lonely, but the vantage point is much better.

"Could you not watch the village entrance from closer? Have they shunned you?"
