"The earth laughs in flowers."

[Din has a job to do here, she knows.]

[The chill of winter's frost still clings to this Hyrule, and she knows it's time to awaken the world again. It's time for warmth. Time for light. Time for Spring.]

[She makes her way to the center of Hyrule Field in the cool dimness of pre-dawn. The Temple of Seasons is where she really ought to be ( Read more... )

have a peeping tom, din. heirtoclocktown March 21 2009, 16:22:30 UTC
[A purple-haired man in a yellow mask was walking one of Hyrule field's less-traversed paths when he seems the girl dancing with herself. He's far enough away to see without being seen, and he watches, entranced, the curves of her body and the flow of her hair. Kafei knows nothing of Hyrule's Goddesses, and if even he did, he wouldn't believe in them. But this girl is beautiful and... familiar somehow. He lowers the keaton mask from his face and observes silently.]

[ooc: Don't apologize! I can't speak for everyone, but I love this idea!]

(ooc: Eee! Thank you!)

[Din is unaware of her observer as she undulates rhythmically, tracing out her pattern on the slowly brightening grass. The sun is just beginning to be in evidence, its first rays illuminating her crimson hair and flailing ribbons. She is at one with the field, the sky, the sun, the spirits of earth and spring. The Blessing of Seasons comes to a conclusion, and she shifts tirelessly into the Blessing of Warmth.]

[As the girl continues dancing, Kafei continues watching, his mind wandering as his eyes wandered over the girl's lithe form. There was something very raw in her dancing: passion. Kafei could always admire passion in women; so often, he noticed it was the women with passionately red hair who captured his attention. This girl is no different, and as the sun rises, she seems almost a part of the flickering, fiery light.]

[She is something like those dancing girls in West Clock Town who dance in the fire. But it's a crude comparison. This girl dances with grace and poise, with natural ease and dexterity. Where the girls he knew and remembered are rigid and controlled, this girl dances wildly, like a flame, like water, like light spilling across wooden floors. She's wild, Kafei decides, and the thought intrigues him. When she's done, he decides, he'll have to say hello.]

[Slowly, gradually, the dance begins to wind to its conclusion. The ribbons whip less violently in their self-made wind, and Din's aspect begins to fade once again to that of a beautiful mortal girl. She raises her arms one last time as she sinks to her knees, as though offering an embrace to Spring itself, then lowers her arms and folds them loosely against herself. It is done.]

[After the dance is over, Kafei waits for a moment, indecisive. Now? Or should he wait for her to recover? Now, he decides, always impatient, and takes confident steps towards the prone girl.]

Good morning. [Kafei greets her with a gentle smile and his hands open.] I was on my way back to town when I saw you dancing. You're quite skilled at the art.

[ooc: sorry for the slow tag. D:]

(ooc: Not to worry! I'm a bit sporadic myself just now.)

And good morning to you.

[Din gives him a bright smile, slowly uncurling herself and rising gracefully from the grass.]

Thank you, that's very kind of you. I hope I didn't interrupt your travels too much?

Hm? [Kafei's a little.. distracted. Now that he's closer, he's able to get a better look at the girl, and look he does. In this light, at this distance, she seems much more... real? Somehow. Still beautiful, he's glad to say, though less vibrant. Much more human. But that's fine with Kafei. He'd take a real girl over a god any day. Her voice is just as Kafei would've expected, and he answers cheerily, sure to keep his posture open and friendly.]

Oh, not at all. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant distraction. What's your name?

Well, aren't you a flatterer.

[She smiles again.]

I'm called Din, like the goddess. I'm a dancer from the country of Holodrum. How about you?

Goddess?

[He cants his head, still smiling.]

I'm not familiar. Where I come from, there are only gods. [He's quick to add.] But it's a beautiful name, and it suits you. Din.

My name is Kafei. As far as I know, I'm not named for anything. All the better as I intend to make a name for myself.

Ah, so you're not from Hyrule either, then? Well, it's very nice to meet you, Kafei! That's a really neat name too.

[She offers a hand to shake.]

So where are you from?

[Kafei takes her hand in one of his and holds it]

I'm told my home is beyond the Lost Woods, though, obviously, getting there is easier said than done. It's called Termina.

[His eyes up, he kisses the back of her hand]

Have you heard of it?

[Oho. She likes this one -- he's fun, like Jake. Din never shies away from a good flirt.]

I can't say I've had the pleasure, but I'll add it to my list of places I'd like to visit sometime.

[So much for finding another way back, but he hadn't really expected her to be able to help. It's certainly not why he decided to talk to her. Kafei slowly releases her hand, pulling his fingertips across hers.]

Well, should you make it there in your travels, ask for me. I'll be more than happy to escort you through my town.

[He glances around. The sun's a bit higher, but there's no one to be seen and not a village nearby. He hated areas like this. Wide expanses of nature. He much preferred the comfort of city walls. But he had this girl's company, at least, and that was something.]

Are you traveling by yourself? It's dangerous to go alone, isn't it? Especially for a beautiful woman like you. You never know what villains you might come across.

[It's dangerous to go alone! Take this Kafei!]

Mm...insofar as I'm traveling, I'm traveling alone. I sort of flit from one place to another; I don't do a very good job of keeping still. I'm safe enough, I think, but I never object to having company if that's what you're offering. Where are you headed?

[That EXACTLY. Or he'll take Din, rather. :sparkle:]

You're a brave one then, are you? I admire that in a woman. [smirk] I was heading to that village by the river. Kakariko, I think it is. Though, I should mention that there's nothing there waiting for me. If you can think of some place more... enticing, Din, I could easily be swayed in your direction.

I've seen Kakariko -- it's a nice place, but rather sleepy. I kind of want to visit Castle Town, to be honest...there's a few abandoned merchants' stalls, and it was explained to me that we're pretty much allowed to help ourselves to whatever we'd like.

[She smiles.]

Does that sound more...enticing to you, Kafei?
