[How long has it been since Devi has had to raise her magic and her shields against an opponent? A day, a night, another day again. The sky begins to give way to night again as she prowls the edges of the field, too restless to sleep but feeling the strain in her body nonetheless. She hasn't slept since arriving in this reality.]
(OOC: Hope you don't mind if I throw another one your way.)
[She goes still when a familiar fissure works its way up her spine, a prickling at the back of her neck that warns her that all is not well. There were those in the tournaments that preferred to attack by stealth, in realities where she found herself not immediately facing her enemy. This feeling is like that.]
[And she has learned to wait for the opponent to reveal himself, gathering her reserves of power.]
[He's almost there now. He pauses long enough to reach back and slide his sword free of its sheath before continuing towards her. And then, when he decides he's finally close enough to lunge, he rocks his weight onto the balls of his feet, readies his blade, and charges at her from the side.]
[She turns when she hears the footsteps, immediately casting Nayru's Love. The magical shield should be enough to protect her from whatever attack is coming. She catches a glimpse of her attacker's face--]
[He doesn't notice the magic until he hits it. He can't hurt her. Why can't he hurt her? He lashes out several more times, as if trying to smash through the spell, but all that does is waste the effort. He also manages to catch himself with his sword when it glances off the shield and across his arm.
[He backs off several steps, looking down at his arm -- it's bleeding freely, but that's why he carries potion -- and scowls. A few thoughts start getting through; why does she seem slightly familiar?]
Do I... know you?
eta: [ooc: Sorry this is late. Work's been hectic.]
I don't believe you. [Her fists glow with power as she readies herself against him, but she holds back, waiting for him to make the next move.] Don't play games with me! You attacked me, so fight!
There's a time to fight and a time to hold your blade! I only fight when I have to, but that doesn't mean I should die! [He takes a step towards her, trying to keep himself in check. No, he doesn't need to start fighting. If he does, he doesn't know if he'll be able to make himself stop.]
[He narrows his eyes. The god moves forward in his mind, voicing the threat he wants to hold back.] Try and cull me, if you dare.
[ooc: Yeah, I'm interested in continuing. I guess I missed the notif. -_-;;; Sorry about that, and thanks for the message.]
[Snapping:] Don't act stupid, Link! [She tenses again when he steps toward her, her hands and feet glowing with renewed magic.] You've been in the tournament just as long as I have, you know what happens if we don't fight! Or have you finally given up?
[She takes that as an invitation, and strikes forward with a fist.]
(OOC: Hope you don't mind if I throw another one your way.)

[He grins to himself and stalks even closer, ducking lower to the ground. Just a bit more, and he'll be close enough...]
[ooc: No problem at all. <3]

Don't play stupid, Link! [With a well-practiced gesture of her arm she casts Din's Fire, sending a short jet of flame blazing toward him.]
(OOC: Apologies for my own lateness! FYI, for Devi, Nayru's Love doesn't last more than a few seconds, so I tried to nerf it a little.)

So then, you know me. [He shakes his head.] I don't know you.
[ooc: Ah, oops. My mistake for assuming. >.>;]

I wasn't attacking you. No, won't understand... [He shakes his head again and raises his sword, but he makes no move to attack.] You can't understand.

What is it with all of you? All of you people in this reality, none of you will fight! Are you looking to get culled?!
((ooc: sorry for lateness. funeral stuff. -.-))

[He sees it coming but doesn't move. Maybe it will help get his point across if he takes the blow, so he just gets ready for it.]
This is a misunderstanding.
