Agree :) I guess it is a bit of a cultural difference. Western culture values freedom and individualism, while eastern culture values responsibility and community. You can't have both extremes of freedom and responsibility, but you need a balance of both. If you're too responsible you'll feel bogged down by others expectations, while if you're too free you ignore those around you. Balance balance :D

Honestly though, I admire people who are responsible more so than those who are free. Because to me, freedom is much easier to accomplish than responsibility especially in the current era. A responsible person is starting to become a rare breed with the increase of people who condone their rights to do whatever they want.

The increase of divorce and suicide are among one of those things that greatly bothered me. It's like consequences don't matter anymore. People nowadays just aren't as mentally strong compared to the previous generations where freedom is a much more harder thing to achieve.

Yes I'd rather take a responsible person over a person who values freedom anyday ( ... )

Well I say it's cultural as some cultures probably don't have it as much as there's probably a higher level of stigma for divorce. Also the fact that people are less likely to get married now of days, this skews the statement that divorce is on the rise (cause that's a different point of measure). It is probably increasing in cultures that had low divorce rates before like in Middle East and Asia. I'm also quoting my psych textbook on that and below ( ... )
