Rains and Trains
Today's big accomplishment was not getting rained on. It was fairly ominous on my walk home, but the worst I got was a few sprinkles. The rest of it held out until I got inside -- which was nice, since I left my umbrella at work.
The most interesting thing I saw today was when the railroad crossings near my house didn't seem to be working properly (or perhaps the train wasn't activating them? I'm not sure how they work). In any case, the lights and bells and arm weren't being activated. So the train braked until it hit the street crossing, then blew its whistle a few times, then a guy went out and waved at the cars, then the train started back up -- for a block, until it had to brake in time for the next crossing. Last I saw as I walked out of sight was this happening for a THIRD time at the next crossing, and the end of the train still hadn't made it through the intersection near my house. It was odd.
