Continuing on child labour, I met Lal Bahadur at the Parliament Street traffic signal in New Delhi, last year. He has been selling books for three years now.
He insisted that we buy Khalid Hosseini or Paul Coelho from him. He answered most of the questions I asked him. He had been to school but he said that he left school early. He was educated till the 5th standard. He used a salesman instinct to identify which books were best sellers. For example, a lot of people buy Khalid Hosseini's A Thousand Splendid Suns, so he knows that it is a best seller.
