I work in video games as most of you know. Which involves lots of late nights on occasion.

So I arrived home at 2-ish tonight...and take the trash out, load the dishwasher, clean the cat boxes. My lovely wife

Nah; he said he felt -cold-, and that it was frozen up on the outside. Which to me says they have a reversible air conditioner, aka "heat pump".

Warm? It was 85 on Tuesday. It was 30 degrees cooler yesterday. Right now, it's about 50. It's supposed to warm up in the next few days though.

Go you! *grin* Meanwhile, speaking as someone who used to fix air conditioners for a living: if it freezes up, that means the freon pressure is low, and it'll likely happen again. Probably time to call a tech and have them look for freon leaks.

Unless, of course, it was below freezing last night or something. That hadn't occurred to me. *woops*

It was below freezing last night. The daytime temperature dropped about 30 degrees, from 85 to 55, with an accompanying nighttime temperature drop. It's about 50 right now, which is not typical. We were supposed to remain above freezing, and didn't.

I'm just glad both of us grew up in a climate where you did learn how to unfreeze pipes with a hairdryer.
