So long as that relationship is still present in some way in the fic...I can quite easily take the sexual aspect out of my pairings

Yes, that's why I love zekiel's stories so much. The C-V relationship is still there and still strong and still important, but there's another relationship too. I didn't feel like I was losing anything by having the main slash pairing be a different combination.

If I'd just seen these stories listed somewhere with a C/E label attached, I'd have avoided them. Now I'm wondering if there are good Chris/Buck stories like these, with a large side order of Vin. I also like the idea of untapped reserves of fic! I imagine there are plenty of dS stories along these lines, too.

Hope you like it. I've read all her Old West stories now and they're all great.

Didn't know whether I should say anything about this post, since now I'm incredibly embarrassed to the point of hiding under furniture. But, well, thanks. You should have seen the color my face turned. And I'm all squeeful about how much I agree with you, re: Zeke's stories and the whole idea of reading other pairings in fandoms where I really do have an OTP. It's always a bit of a risk, to try stories like that, but good stories can be so much more than their pairings or descriptions. One of my favorite authors in Highlander is Parda, who writes dozens of Cassandra stories in which Methos and Duncan might appear, or might not -- but when they do, her take on them is so perfect that those appearances are like caramel in the center of a chocolate ( ... )
