Family ritual: Critiquing The Dessert

Mar 16, 2012 20:51

It's Supernatural Eve, finally. I'm not busy enough at the moment for the last four weeks to have passed quickly, not that I think they would have in any case ( Read more... )

Ooooh, Tunnel of Fudge - I haven't had that in years. *drools all over work keyboard*

That whole discussion is hilarious!

"Pay attention, and after a few more years you might be able to make your own comments!" At which point we all fell about laughing.

...and that's the point when he knows he's finally be accepted into the family. *hee*

Her Tunnel of Fudge was fantastic. That was a memorable one!

I think he's been accepted, but he isn't meeting the minimum required standard in this particular regard!

OMG! Those desserts are to die for! (Man, I'm now craving chocolate...*drools*).

And having a family ritual like this is great. Hee! I hope we hear about the day that he actually does say something.

YAAAAAAAAAY!!!! Supernatural eve!! FINALLY!! I am DESPERATE to see where they go next. I am completely and utterly unspoiled. (though I have been tempted....)

I MORE SLEEP!

My birthday dessert is coming up soon, so I might ask him for his thoughts before the rest of us deliver our verdicts!

I've been looking at and counting back from Sat 17 March in my diary for so long that it seems hard to believe it's nearly here! I'm also unspoiled, though like you I've been tempted. I argued with myself for a while about whether I could look at spoilers during such a long hiatus, but am glad I resisted.

I was tempted to go to bed an hour ago just to make tomorrow come sooner, but decided that waking up at 6am might defeat the purpose!

Enjoy tomorrow - and check the map!

I just want to say the Tunnel of Fudge terrifies me for a number of reasons.

It's definitely a cake that deserves respect and careful treatment!

We definitely get more pleasure out of ripping the dessert to shreds verbally than we would if we only did it by eating!

I'm nominating you for the next Top Chef Desserts judging panel. And ICE CREAM PIE?????? Good lord how did I NOT know of the existence of such an outstanding dessert??? After 37 years I managed to purchase and taste my first EVER ice cream cake (Don't ask, I think my parents had some sort of deep, abiding aversion to such a dessert - they're British so maybe that has something to do with it?) for Tim's birthday recently. From Baskin Robbins I'm ashamed to say since my culinary talents are pretty much quasi existent but I have to say it's NOT going to be the last ice cream cake that's for sure. But now I know there is such a thing as ice cream pie. Hmmmm....I'm pretty sure I have NEVER seen ice cream pie for sale anywhere. I wonder if there is a place in the US famous for ice cream pie. You do realise you've just introduced me to a whole new topic of research for the holiday. Can't believe I've never read a fic where Dean is eating ice cream pie. Inconceivable! Shame you can't make it tomorrow - hope the driveway goes in smoothly and ( ... )

You inspired me to look up ice cream pie recipes online and now I have lots of ideas for variations.

I keep wondering whether Dean would like them, or whether they don't really count as pie as far as he's concerned.

(9:09am our time means it's ON, somewhere! Whoo!)

Have a good day. I've just had 40 tonnes of gravel delivered and they've gone to get the other 40.

oooh, I like the idea of a mint choc chip ice cream pie...
I love your ritual, it sounds like a hoot.
We do more of the standard one where the cook criticises her food and eveyone else goes 'noo its lovely'.

We've had Creme de Menthe and Kahlua-flavoured ones in the past (highly recommended!).
