I had a pretty social week and looking back on it brings home how thoroughly my social circle is dominated by slash fans.
Sunday: Supernatural S7 mini-marathon with
redteekal and
ash48. I love being around people who can state their fannish opinion and immediately back it up with a quote and the episode it came from!
Tuesday: visit
emma_in_oz, whose children's bedtimes are finally jiving with my schedule again.
Thursday: ride with a local friend (my one non-fan social encounter of the week), then later eat Vietnamese food and watch House with
bardiegrub and
shortblack.
shortblack did an excellent impersonation of a true slash fan in enthusing about the finale of White Collar S1.
House 8x05 didn't contain drop-everything-to-watch H/W content, but there were some good Wilson moments, we found it entertaining overall and it's probably one to see so you can follow the changes to the team and also the office space!
Friday: Swancon quiz night with
mr_booboo,
bardiegrub,
cricketk,
psycho_tabby and
mr_booboo's housemate and boss. I was thrown for a loop when her boss mentioned slash. I almost always think quiz nights should end a round or two earlier than they do, but this was a pretty good one. My night was made when I was able to answer a question about the games played in Battlestar Galactica, which are apparently the same in the old and new versions, but reversed so the card game in the new version is the physical game in the original. Very uncharacteristically, I think we did best in the sports round. There was a set of animal questions titled "Questions about zebras and other animals, but mostly zebras."
Three zebra facts:
1. They are black animals with white stripes
2. The foals are white with brown stripes
3. Albino zebras are white and grey.
Saturday: metro rogaine1 in Mandurah with
cricketk,
psycho_tabby, Matt and Wes. We did pretty well for not trying too hard (10th out of more than 70 teams) and I was pleased I could keep up for four hours with a male personal trainer and gym junkie who are a dozen years younger than I am! The good company, exercise, beautiful day and excellent organisation by the club more than made up for not seeing Supernatural at the first possible moment. Then I visited
sarren on the way home and we talked Yuletide.
Weeks like this are more fun than I usually had before I knew any slash fans!
