I hope that everyone that celebrates Christmas is having a great one!
This is NOT my Christmas tree. As you can tell from the tree topper, this is my Green Bay brother's tree. : )
We had a great Christmas Eve at my brother's house. It was foggy on the drive there but nowhere near as foggy as several years ago. This year we had a white Thanksgiving and a brown/slightly green Christmas. At least, the sun did come out for some time today which has been a rare thing lately.
We had lots of good munchies and a delicious dinner yesterday. My nephew (the one that got married this past summer) even brought some smoked salmon (2 flavors) that he smoked himself and his wife painted wineglasses for everyone as table place cards. Mine had a sheep on it. : )
Wisconsin has an unofficial state cocktail - the brandy old-fashioned. I don't remember ever having one as I usually have a gin & tonic with lemon when I have a mixed drink, so I had my brother make me one just to see what one was like. It was OK but I think I will stick to my usual gin & tonic.
I drove my mom back to her house last night and stayed overnight - it was about an hour shorter drive than driving back to Madison. We made a pork loin, roasted broccoli and real mashed potatoes for dinner. I brought a stollen for breakfast. I did have to bring leftovers home as well as some pickled herring that my mom had gotten for me. I also have my bag of pecan fingers. My mom bakes us all a bag each Christmas.
