I really want to run the power for my computer & modem under my couch, but surge protectors seem to be restricted to about four feet of length (I need six or seven) and every freaking extension cord I find isn't grounded/doesn't take grounded plugs. Not that I really want to use an extension cord with a surge protector. Gah. As it is, sometimes when Soren and Mikko are playing and tearing through the apartment, they pull my modem loose.
This is Santa Yuma currently, at least the mostly residential section. I recently moved three of the houses and the one occupied apartment building as I was getting sick of having to scroll around to find the next home. Of course, they still don't flow easily. Neighborhood deco has really restricted where I can place certain lots. The commercial sections are on two ends of the larger island, while the residential is in the middle by the highway intersection and train/monorail lines. That's probably opposite of how it should be.
FYI, if anyone has seen a mod to make those darned plumbobs smaller, I want.
New Families
It's been family-adding time. I have three new ones, added very close to each other. The first is a single-sim household with an elder. Baldur Kim has a tiny one bedroom home and runs the new roller rink, Wheels. It's quickly become the hangout of choice. Here he is having a lunch of soup and hard boiled eggs with Harvey Oliver. Or maybe they're miso balls. That would make more sense.
Roller rinks take up so much space. Andrea and Allen Oliver went there a lot as teens. They're now adults, living in a two bedroom in the lower left corner of the 'hood pic. Leah Masoyru, on the left of the second pic, is now an adult as well. She'll be shown more later. Apparently she thinks Melody's perpetual fiance, Michael Jaques, is hot. She's been corrupted. I'm not happy but not surprised. With a father whose bedroom is a revolving door and an early introduction into the world of woohoo by one Shadow Lee (another stupid Romance sim), what could you expect?
Sandy Nathaniel was added as a teen mom to Ender (who is a girl). I named Ender that due to the fact that the birth was actually twins when I'd rolled for a single toddler. Had to fire up the bbq. Sandy's an adult now, and raising her daughter on her own in a lofted two-bedroom home that could almost be deemed a mansion. It's small, but seriously nice. I picture her as the daughter that rich parents sent off in shame, but with a huge bank account to make them feel better about their abandonment.
And the majority of the picspam goes to...the Noirs. They are a burgeoning family of five (okay, they're small compared to the Olivers). I just love the situation of their home due to the way the one monument almost seems like it's on the roof from certain angles. Ignore the tiny line at the roof. Lowered entries can be such a pain. It blends from every angle other than this one. Oh, and the landscaping is almost exclusively from Harvey's Horticultural Supply. All my new families have plants and trees in inventory!
Frozen motive, baby spawning madness. Since the Noirs needed three biological children, they both had to spawn. This is my obligatory 1x1 holding lot. The Noirs consist of Charles and Nina, their twin daughters Katie and Jasmine, and child-aged son Wyatt.
The Noirs are big entertainers. The girls (especially Katie, the outgoing one) are always inviting friends over from school. Andrea and Lucy Oliver practically live there.
I love this house. Lately I've been really into mixed wallpapering and putting lots of different furniture together. The Noir house isn't the best example of the look (Leah Masoyru's probably wins), but it's up there.
Jasmine and Katie Noir run Happy Tails to You, the pet store. I think that technically Jasmine owns it. It's in the commercial/shopping district, over with Nadia's and Just a Little Bubbly. I'd been hoping to get a lot of !surprise! pet purchases, but so far all that has happened is that Nadia Oliver has bought a new pet bed there, and Michael Jaques got this...
A bird they named Avian. Because it's, you know, a bird. Which is an avian. No one in their family seems capable of actually shutting the cage after they interact with the bird, so it spends most of its time flying around.
Oh, and FYI: Jasmine and Katie Noir are identical twins. In case you were wondering. I have no idea how that happened.
Randomness
Souvenirs from Shadow Lee and Tse Nemeth's night on the town. They are such clubaholics. Dance positioner is not working perfectly well for me, but that's probably due to the dj booth being on a different level than the dance floor. Nine out of ten sims will use the placards, but then one'll go dance behind the booth like an idiot.
Wyatt Noir picking on Lucy Oliver. Poor, forlorn, youngest child Lucy. If they end up having good chemistry, I'm marrying them off, despite the fact that she's six days older than he is.
Dang, I need a university. Leah Masoyru and Coco the cat during house-building. She's a little loony at the moment since she's Knowledge-Family and didn't get to go to college. I have about $250k of the $1mil needed. Coco is this insane bob-tailed, calico, two-colored-eye cat that I got when Leah was a child because she was just dying for a pet.
And...this is her finished house. Love. It. I even love the twist on the mailbox/trash surround I use to keep varmints and kickers out. (There's a locked gate in the middle, it just blends so well you can't see it from far away). It's a two bed, two bath home with the option to build out a basement if need be. I haven't deco'ed the second bedroom or bathroom yet because there's no need, but what's done has a really ecclectic feel.
