CNN ran a story about some attorney who dressed up as Osama (including a fake gun)and was subsequently arrested and will now stand trial (on what charges?). Anyway, I loved the narration of the story. Apparently dressing up as Osama puts the police at risk. This was immediately followed by a police office talking about how his heart rate went up and how upset he got. I don't get it. Does someone at CNN have a quirky subtle sense of humor, or are they really so stupid as to imply that getting a police officer's heart rate up puts him in danger? I suppose if your nightly patrol duty involves a stake out at a local Wawa donut stand, then it is likely that anything that might upset you will also kill you. More importantly, but much less funny is the whereabouts of the freedom of speech. Is dressing up as Osama tasteless? Yes. Illegal, dangerous? Hell no. You also gotta love the fact that these two yokels in uniforms thought it entirely reasonable that Osama would be walking along the interstate in rural Maine.
