OMFG, so EXCITED about this sequel! I like that you are giving us a Dean that is very much still in the throes of PTSD. And yay, Sammy and Bobby are right there for him. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
As a doglover myself, who has been and will again cry about my own dog's mortality, the dogicide was certainly not pleasant, but whatever it takes for good fic, I suppose.
I feel pretty guilty about the dogs. Someone who reviewed me over on FF was a tad upset by it - well, more by Bobby's attitude. I thought it would be a pretty good way to show just how damaged that boy still is... and fact Bobby is pretty ruthless about it seems to me to pretty accurately reflect the fact he's one tough old guy who has seen way worse and prioritizes accordingly.
Actually it always amused me that people protested Sam shooting the dog in Woods even though the damn thing tried to eat Dean and Sammy shot it in self-defense! My wank is the dogs were old arthritic dogs. Now they are in doggy heaven, with no arthritis, chasing giant killer rabbits. Much better off! ;-)
I'm so glad you didn't fix Dean at the end of "Woods". Experience like that doesn't just go away easily. Dean is still so very messed up here. But his loved ones are still here for them instead of abandoning him because he's so hard to deal with. Poor thing!
Hey sugah, I did see you had recced me there! I do appreciate it. Someone else has a couple of times too but I still don't seem to be getting much traffic from it :-( so I am hoping people who might want to read it are waiting until it is complete.
If this is the bar you've raised for this fic, then I feel really confident that I'm going to love it just as much if not more than the last one! You have a gift for storytelling, my friend. That's all for now, 'cause I must get to chapter 2 now!
