I see there are new people here? That’s awesome! In the interest of getting to know one another, could I ask you just a few questions? (Not-new people can also reply, of course!)
1. Do you know how to tap dance?
2. Did you initially read ‘tap dance’ as ‘lap dance?’
3. What’s the best pirate curse you know?
That said, I should probably mention, especially for those new to this journal, that I am an unreliable Dreamwidth/LJ correspondent. If you want to have an actual conversation with me, it’s best to move it to e-mail and seriously, don’t hesitate, okay? Even if it’s just to discuss the weather (right now: a taste of summer), squirrels (bushy tails), frogs (I love frogs!) or wet members of some Hawaiian task force thingy, you know which one I mean - whatever. You can start by telling me whether you’d sign my petition which would institute one cup of coffee in the morning as a basic human right.
However, there is one tiny hurdle. Translate this: (myljname) (at) (livejournal) (dot) (com)
(Small print, except not small: The reason for my Dreamwidth/LJ unreliability is that I just don’t have a lot of live access to it. I can access e-mails from work, I can write on the train, but LJ is blocked and while DW isn’t, I’m too paranoid to go exploring when at work. I pre-write most of my entries and post them when I have access (hence I don’t post all that much), and while I usually manage to answer someone’s first reply to a post, I am much less reliable at replying to further comments. It is a rare day when I manage to read three posts on my f-list. Sorry!
So, if you and I were in the middle of a discussion and I suddenly don’t reply anymore, rest assured that it is nothing personal. It’s not you, it’s me! Chances are the exchange got lost in the depths of my chaos that married my lack of DW/LJ time to form an unholy alliance.
Time difference doesn’t help. And there’s also this pesky thing called real life that demands a whole lot of my attention, so… Sorry. Please forgive me. And, again, it’s not that I don’t love chatting; I do.
Send me an e-mail and I’ll be right there. Well, sort of right there. Sometimes. DW/LJ… might take a bit longer.)
