I always read Mareen Dowd's op-ed but she's all feminist lately and it's more than I could take. I left this comment on the NYT discussion board

The thing is is that she's brilliant, so if she says shit that stupid then what are the not so blessed feminist saying? That's a scary thought for me. lol

I don't really think it's an intelligence thing; some people just want to dominate, and some people genuinely want equality. Academically smart people can still be tossers. I'm not really familiar with this woman but I'm into feminism and for the record I loathe +any+ kind of gender stereotype, beyond basic physical things like "men are generally taller than women". There are so many types of feminism, it's a shame that lots of people just think of feminist thinkers as irrational man-hating types - I'm not saying you personally do, but far too many people do. I'm just ranting now though, feel free to pay no attention ;)

I also like the term tossers, is this an English thing or is that you who thought that up?

She wrote one of the best books on Bush called Bush world. I'll have to go threw it again because I'm starting to forget why I read her articles. lol

Hehe "tosser" is an English slang word, it literally means the same thing as "wanker" - or "jerk" if you don't have "wanker" in America. I can never remember! Wow I think that was the most obscene comment I've ever written on lj, apart from stuff about my ex of course.
