I always read Mareen Dowd's op-ed but she's all feminist lately and it's more than I could take. I left this comment on the NYT discussion board.

Womyn with a Y as in Why:

I'm really sick of Ms. Dowd's feminist bellyaching. Although very interesting as a 100 level Womyn's/Gender's study paper it is not at the level of the New York Times.

Genicide in the Sudan, a hornets nest in Iraq and the worst US president ever and she's talking about how I should feel sorry for groupies. In her essay on the baseball scandal she talked about villafying the boys of summer, especially for their horrible attitudes and treatment of womyn. Why would someone so intelligent as Ms. Dowd identify with someone as base as a groupie. She even goes so far as to assume they weren't aware of what they were, and didn't get off on it; and it is this naivety that makes the left look stupid. What's next throwing a pitty party for Limp Bizkit groupies instead of commenting on Chechnian rebels massacre children?

Then she goes on to comment on Martha Stewart's injustice. I hate that I have to take Martha's side on that issue; but there were bigger things to comment on. Socialism is kicking the ass of American capitalism. The EU has the new Airbus plane, BMW bought RR, and the Socialist party took over Portugal. These are real issues that a REAL newspaper would be talking about. Not taking the side of some billionare while millions of people go with out healthcare in a recession that has been forgotten about.

Now she makes this generalization of men and it's just too much. Do they do this kind of thing at Le Monde, I think the NYT is modeling itself more after THE MIRROR than THE GAURDIAN.
