This does relate to my thoughts on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but it's more generic and meta, so I'm not locking it, and I'm not cutting it.
I see spoilers all over the place - still people being obnoxious to those who haven't yet finished the book. And they're always the same. Who died. Nothing else is ever spoiled. Not how they died, not who does or doesn't end up with whom, not how the story actually ends.
There were many surprises for me in Deathly Hallows. Plenty of things I couldn't have seen coming. I haven't seen anything posted about any of them in an obnoxious way. Sure, they're in people's thoughts about the book after reading it, but someone trying to avoid spoilers obviously isn't going to read those posts anyway.
The only thing the spoiler trolls seem to care about are the deaths. And honestly, while the deaths surprised me and upset me, I thought the other surprises were much more significant, and I'm glad no one who hasn't read the book yet risks accidentally stumbling across them in random places. They might find out who lives and dies, but they won't find out the plot, because the spoiler trolls just Don't Get It.
