Epic Spam of the Pictorial Kind

AJHFKAJHFLAJ So I promised you this entry a couple of weeks ago, and didn't deliver. Well technically I did. I just posted it under the private filter first and forgot to remove that after doing my edits.

NEVER MIND, HERE WE ARE.

I was talking to
effex on Twitter about .... something (figures I think?), and we got around to collections and pictures of those very collections. I said that I had taken a couple of photos recently, and promised I'd do a write-up of sorts. And here it is!

Beware, there are lots and lots of huge photos, and I had some problems with lighting and focus in a couple of them. (They all link to the original files, which are a lot bigger still.) Anyway.

This is what you see when you enter my room. The couch, the windows, the doorframe, one of the bookshelves. Those in front are slide-able, and hella cool.

If you look down, you see my awesome carpet, and the hardwood floors. And a bit of the desk!

The desk! It's a Davenport and an antique, the former of which means that the drawers slide out to the side. (Obviously it's not a Davenport Davenport.) We still need to change the leather inlay, but we can't quite decide on a colour yet.
The room has two different kinds of wallpaper, this is one of them, the other is the same motif, but in a cream colour scheme. There will be old maps of the area (Pomerania, the Baltic Sea, all around 100-200 years old?) in frames on this wall, but the frames still need to be chosen.

Drawers!

The whole desk has a dragon theme going on, it's pretty cool.

This is my reading chair. (And you can see the dragon curving out in front of the desk here.)

The couch! It doubles as a bed.

The cupboard and the double shelves. A little blurry, but eh. *shrugs*

Ta-daaa! Beautiful, isn't it? All custom-built to our specs. The colour of the center piece is Japanese Red, and the darker one in the side shelves and on top (the frame) is Baikal Green.

*hums*

Now there'll be lots of close-ups.

You can see the German editions of The Demon's Lexicon and City of Bones/City of Ashes here. The former is very very shiny. And one book appears to be missing.

More missing books and the start of my Hohlbein collection. I've mentioned him to
effex before when I made her a list of non-English fantasy books and writers. His writing's quality varies (he's insanely prolific), but he's written such things as a female templar who is in love with a Tuareg warrior and saves the Christian king in the Holy Land (she's super badass), and said king has leprosis in an advanced state and is even more badass. Also Saladin is the only one of pretty much everyone there who has any sense, therefore -> this book series? AWESOME.

I have a lot of Hohlbein books. (Look, there's my favourite, Krieg der Engel (Angels' War)! And his bestseller, Märchenmond (Fairytale Moon)!)

Oh look, Wolfsherz (Wolf's Heart, with extra werewolves!), and the Templar series!

Those five on the right are Temeraire books. :D

Oh look, the German Harry Potter books! :D Except for HBP and DH, which are ...

... here. Together with a historical tome, some sheet music, and Tolkien - The Total Geek's Collection(TM).

Oho, a figure! And some friends of mine! :D

So my family kind of enjoys boardgames. As you can probably tell. (The back shelves are the same width as the slide-able ones, and you can see the tracks here.)

Asuka ... she had an accident. Aaaaand there's my Death Box. I suppose I have the space now for the diorama and the skull. Kudos to anyone who recognizes that black poster roll. It contains one of the coolest posters every printed, as far as I'm concerned.

Ah, and here are most of my trading cards and shitajiki. I don't have all that many.

LOL I love how this shelf is like: Historical maps! Managerial accounting! Sherlock Holmes! Corporate finance! Norse mythology!

Some of my artbooks. Not all of them are in Ue'de though, some are in Berlin. The one on the far right is the Kouyu Shurei portfolio. ♥_♥

More artbooks, including my little Range Murata collection (the Form|Code is the LE that you could only get through Wani), and one Hyung-Tae Kim artbook. Oh, and Fabrica Theologicae (or whatever the spelling is, honestly ...) in the middle.

More artbooks, some miscellanea, and more Hyung-Tae Kim. (The black box is the LE of Magna Carta with the watch and everything. *_*)
If anyone wants that second Oxide2x, raise your hand. :D

Some German magazines (fannish anime/manga and political), and the entire first run of Asterix.

The first front shelf. Full of DVDs and Blu-rays and some VHS, and yet barely half of our collection.

Who still has Slayers on VHS? ^_^ I feel so old school .... ;)

Second front shelf. Poetry, amigurumi, Edward Gorey.

Some audiobooks (and a FOB CD, ahaha ...), an owl, crystals.

Pinky:st!

EVA Pinky:st, a really old box, an even older photo album, and a teeny tiny glass fox.

Etc.

Oho! Now things are starting to get interesting.

I used to have a different system. Lots of my manga are in Berlin. Before, ALL of these horizontal rows would have vertical stacks on top of them to fit everything.

THE CHAIR.

Ayashi no Ceres, Fushigi Yuugi (plus novels), Missile Happy, some Elementar Gerad. Then some Hinako Takanaga, lots of Arina Tanemura and some more Yuu Watase (I used to have them all organized by author, and had huge CLAMP and Yuu Watase etc. sections.). Then Eiki Eiki and Mikiyo Tsuda, lots of CLAMP, and even more Yuu Watase.

You Higuri en masse, one Kazusa Takashima. Some randoms (shounen ai), Kizuna, more You Higuri, AND YET MORE YUU WATASE. Then, Marmalade Boy, some more Arina Tanemura, Fruits Basket and D.N.Angel.

Blade of the Immortal, a volume of Hiroaki Samura short stories, GOTH (which is great), some Gackt CDs. Some Get Backers, one Gundam Wing, some Rave, more CLAMP, one volume Angel Sanctuary that I have twice, one Japanese manga, one W Juliet, FLCL, DNA(squared), one volume of the Brazilian Love Hina publication, Argento Soma, Akira, one Digimon manga (hahaha). Oh! My Goddess.

Kamikaze, Saiyuki, Under the Glass Moon (manhwa), Chrno Crusade, Alichino. "Kare" First Love, Mars (which I rec rec rec LIKE WHOA), more Hinako Takanaga, some Never Give Up. Orphen (*rec rec recs*), Samurai Deeper Kyo and some Homunculus (a sort of insane seinen manga that I also rec. Sort of.).

Ignoring the first row. Some light novels and more CLAMP (Gosh Tokyo Babylon, nooooo, I will not cry! ;_;), some James Jean, one more light novel, Jill Thompson's Death (in Portuguese), my SIGNED first volume of Demon Diary, Stigma by Kazuya Minekura, the awesome Run, Bongu, Run!, one Aoi Nanase and some *extremely* random comics. Then: Hello Kitty, Yuki, Hogwarts pins, Houshin Engi, tactics and some more Kinoshita in the form of Detective Loki.

X^1999 and Skip Beat! - X^1999 was actually the first manga I bought, back in 1999.

Hmmmm. Some CLAMP, some miscellany, two volumes of the USian Tenipuri release, Ouran High School Host Club, Perfect Girl (Yamato Nadeshiko no Shichi Henge, READ IT IF YOU HAVEN'T.), Demon Diary (of which I have a signed first volume), and you can already see most of my Vagabond manga.

Vagabond! My Kaori Yuki collection (I still consider Angel Sanctuary to be one of my favourite series), Yami no Matsuei, some Hunter X Hunter and the Peace Maker Kurogane figure that came with .... volume five? Something like that. [*zooms in* Correct!]

Naruto and Hikaru no Go (the few I have in German - the Japanese edition is in Berlin).

Oooh. Spirit of Wonder (<3), some Trigun and Trigun Maximum, a manhwa, some Yukiru Sugisaki, one Kazuya Minekura, more CLAMP et alii, and Slayers! I fucking love Slayers.
The last row has Peace Maker Kurogane, Samurai Champloo, Beck (<3333), and Island as well as Zombie Hunter, both of which were drawn by Yang Kyung-Il and are gore, gore and gore with a side helping of two or three ecchi scenes each.

King of Bandit Jing (both series), some Great Teacher Onizuka, Othello, Gravitation, some more Minekura and some miscellaneous.

Peach Girl, shoujo manga of awesome! Then the Fuyumi Soryo short story collection, Vitamin (all those are heartily recommended to anyone, but especially teenage girls), and Hot Gimmick.

That's it! Done!

But one bonus picture:

Look who's found those missing books! ^_^
