My dad sent me an owl before the break to ask me if I was going home for Christmas, and I thought about it. He said they were worried because of the explosion of the Ravenclaw Tower and maybe I'd feel safer at home. The whole thing, it's got to a point where I think feeling safe anywhere is very stupid. I'm beginning to think you make your own safety. Maybe I already thought that, just not consciously. Anyway, I wrote him back to say I was still staying here.

I got some very cool presents. Nothing big, because my parents gave me a new broom after receiving the OWLs scores, and that's big enough. My grandfather gave me a professional quaffle and new quidditch gloves. My parents gave me a poster for my room, a new Wireless, a deck of Self-Shuffling cards, sweets and canned food. That's brill, because I like sweets, but not as much. They also got me stuff from the Weasley twins's shop they bought via owl, but I'm not touching it. Also a new pair of boots to use in the greenhouses, so I don't have to use "the nicer pair," as my Mum put it in her owl. Parents. They look very sturdy, though, and that works.

One of the best presents was a 'foul owl,' I think they're called. It's a stuffed owl and it swears. It says stuff like "Kiss my arse," heh.

My mates have all gone home and the castle's a bit boring. There are still people around, so it's not like there's nothing to do, though.
