Here's the rest of their conversation...

Title: Closure Part 4
Author: Zanne88
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Callie/ Erica
Disclaimer: I don't own anything. I'm not making a profit on this.
Summary: Callie and Erica take some time to catch up.
A/N: This is really just a bunch of fluff with a tiny bit of angst. I wanted to take them back to that easy friendship they had in season 4 before all the freaking out. Or least get them closer to that point.

Callie's POV

I’m so relieved that I collapse onto one of the beds in the on-call room I locked myself in when I saw Erica’s name come up on my phone. I’d been pacing throughout most of the conversation because I had no idea where it was going. But I can relax now. She wants to be my friend again! I’m so excited that I nearly miss her next question.

“So you’re kissing girls in Joe’s bathroom now? Isn’t that a little dirty, even for you, Torres?”

“Hey now! She kissed me! It’s not like I really had any choice in the matter. I was stuck between her and the sink with no escape route!” I’m laughing along with Erica, but I’m getting nervous again. This isn’t exactly a topic I feel like discussing with my ex, though I guess it’s my fault for mentioning it in my letter in the first place. What the hell was I thinking?! Okay, calm down, Torres. She brought it up this time, so maybe it’ll be okay. Maybe she’s just trying to be your best friend again. Yeah, that’s it. She’s your friend, not your ex. Friends talk about this kind of stuff all the time. Oh wait, she’s talking again.

“Yeah, whatever. Did you figure out who this person was? And how in the world did she know about us?”

“Her name is Arizona Robbins.” I hear Erica snort on the other end of the line but decide to ignore it. “And she’s the new head of Pediatric Surgery. I’m pretty sure the entire hospital knows there was something going on with you and me by now. So I bet Arizona just heard some of the nurses talking.”

“How did the whole hospital find out? Did you accidentally let it slip to Yang or Grey or something?”

“Well, I did kind of tell Yang, but I don’t believe she spread it around at all. I think people just noticed how miserable I became after you left and I know everyone heard about my breakdown in the OR, so…”

“WHAT?! What happened, Cal?”

“Nothing… it doesn’t matter anymore.”

“It matters to me. Callie, I never should have left you like that. I just… disappeared and… not once did I think about how much that would hurt you. Guess I wasn’t much of a friend either, huh?”

“Hey, we went through this already, didn’t we? We both made mistakes, we’re both sorry, and we’re moving on. Speaking of moving on, why Indiana? I thought you never wanted to go back home.”

“Smooth, Torres. All right, I’ll let you change the subject, but just this once! I didn’t really go back home. I’m living in Indianapolis now, whereas I grew up in a small town in the northeastern part of the state. Turns out they’re very different. I don’t mind Indy as much, though I do kinda miss the West Coast. Wait… how did you get my address anyway?”

“You left a forwarding address at the post office, remember?” I can’t help but laugh at her. Who would have thought that Erica Hahn, cardio goddess, could be so forgetful?

“Oh yeah. I knew that.”

Beep. Beep. Beep.

“Shit. My pager’s going off, Erica. Looks like there’s a trauma coming in. Can I… can I call you later? I mean, not tonight ‘cause it’s what, like midnight there? But in like, you know… the future? Would that be okay?”

“It’s actually only 11 here. I’m 3 hours ahead of you. But yes, of course you can call. Anytime. That’s what friends do, right?”

“Right. Well, I have to, uh, go save lives now. Good night.”

“Night, Cal.”

I shut my phone and let out the squeal I’ve been holding in since she called. When did I become such a girl? Seriously! My pager goes off again so I get up and leave the on-call room with a smile on my face. It’s the first time I’ve really smiled in far too long. I feel like I can finally walk tall again.

A/N: Well, I think this is the end of this little fic. I'm considering doing a sequel, but so far I don't know what I want that to look like. So it may take a while. Or I might go onto something else. I'm not sure. But I'm happy with this the way it is, and I hope you enjoyed it as well!
