My partner here, he just got back from the war...

Yay, Robbie Thompson script! I really hope they can keep this guy around. Good story, great supporting characters, Dean's pop culture references, nice use of parallel timelines.

Bahahaha! Gotta say, I loved Ness' 40s tough guy not feeling bad for Dean at all, even giving him a different perspective on hunting. Granted, Ness has no idea how much Dean has been through, but the contrast in how a "real man" deals with life in their different times was a great touch.

I loved how they created the forties. Fantastic atmosphere. The lighting was gorgeous, and there were some really nice camera angles reminiscent of movies of that era. I fully expect there to be tons of icons very soon of Dean with the brim of his fedora shadowing his eyes and the light highlighting his jaw and lips. The dialogue and attitudes of the characters, the settings...right down to people listening to the radio in the evening while they read the newspaper. And if a nicely-dressed young man knocks on your door and says he's with some government department you've never heard of, but he wants to make sure your home is safe from termites, of course you let him in to look around. He's only there to help you!

The word-nerd in me delighted in the use of "awesome" and the play on how it's meaning has evolved over the decades. Not to mention how Dean and Ness continually confounded each other with their terminology.

The scoping out of the abandoned house, and the subsequent setting up shop, was really nice to see. Plus, there was this: "Define 'semi-functioning' without using the words 'hole in the floor'." HA!!

Did anyone else catch a vibe between Sam and Sheriff Mills? Just me, then? Okay. Great chemistry, though, and they worked well together.

Jared really inhabits Sam anymore, doesn't he? Sometimes it just impresses the hell out of me. It's the little details; like how he woke up when his phone rang and was completely disoriented, or how he just collapsed onto his sad little bed, then couldn't get comfortable and tossed around for a bit.

LOVED Sam hoping Dean was watching "cartoon smut", then getting in a dig about Dean looking for "Dick". Heh heh heh. Ah, sibling crap-slinging.
