*SPOILERS* Gundam 00 movie and I can't believe I have to thank Odex for something
Watched the Gundam 00 movie today. It was...well, pretty fun, for the most part. It's pretty cool watching an anime movie in a theatre with fellow fans of the show. Everyone laughed when Patrick Colassaur appeared and when his attempt at a heroic sacrifice resulted, as always, with events conspiring to keep him alive (the guy can't die even when he tries), groaning at the number of zeroes in the serial number of Setsuna's new Gundam(enough with the zeroes already), were clearly excited at Ribbon's reappearance (and incredibly amused at the folding chair scene that followed). It's just, I don't know, good to know that there's a whole bunch of people geeking out along with you.
And then there was how the entire theatre gave a collective, audible "WTF?" and the ending...
I'm still not sure if I really liked the movie. It was entertaining, sure - I'm not all that big a fan of mecha (strange thing for a Gundam fan to say, huh?) but mobile suit battles animated on a movie budget and played out on the big screen ARE. FREAKING. AWESOME. Also you cannot go wrong with an Ishikawa Chiaki insert song...But while I never expected my OTP to really become unambiguously cannon, DID YOU HAVE TO BLOODY TEASE US LIKE THAT?? And you could have at least given that couple in my icon a little more lovey-dovey time to make up for it...And that ending...oh wow that ending...And then that bit after the credits...People were visibly reeling from it as they walked out of the theatre.
And then there was you. Thank you for still gladly coming with me, even when things made it inconvenient for you, even though you knew you would probably be lost for most of the movie since you're not a Gundam fan. You are awesome. I am generally not given to glomping people, but I really wanted to glomp you back then.
