A thing of beauty...
One of the wonderful things about where I work is the employee discount. With school coming up, I knew I'd be in need of a great set of knives. The school encourages the purchase of their kits, but they're either horrible sets with huge plastic handles, or decent knives with huge riveted handles. After years of using knives with ergonomic handles, I knew I wouldn't be able to deal with the ones they sell.
So, I bought some.
Henckels Twin Cuisine to be exact. An 8" Chef, 8" Bread Knife, 4" Paring Knife and 5 1/2" Boning knife. I've drooled over these knives for years. They're wonderfully well-fit to my hand and have a beautiful edge to them. They cut like a dream, and damnit, they look like forged, ice-hardened sex:
So, as I was saying about the discount... My company already sells all Zwilling J.A. Henckels at 25% off the MSRP. With my discount added to that, it came to within wholesale cost.
Can one love both a woman and a set of knives?
