Finding my NUTs

Jun 20, 2009 14:49

I've kind of been following The Art of Manliness's 30 Days to a Better Man. I haven't been on a date, yet (I mean recently-I have been on dates), and haven't made a bucket list.  I haven't memorized "If."

Here's my first attempt at finding my NUTs (Non-negotiable, Unalterable Terms):
  • I speak up if I have a problem. I do not hide from problems. I believe that we should each try to change the universe for the better (probably a reason I'm in engineering). If you hide from problems rather than dealing with them, you're fooling yourself if you think things will get better. Remaining silent has never helped.
  • I do what I say I'm going to do.  There are too many undependable people in the world. I don't want to be another one.  Sometimes, I forget stuff, though.  Remind me if I forget.
  • I am forgiving. Many people would think that I give too many "second chances."
  • I want to be better. I'm not the best at anything, but I am good at a lot of things, and I want to be better at all of them. I am always trying to learn something new.
In the past, when I've neglected any of the above, my mental/emotional well-being has suffered.  The people I admire most have these same values.

nuts, creed, beliefs
