Good stuff, bad stuff, dumb stuff

Let's see if I can do this in roughly chronological order...

Dumb stuff - doing a burn test. Not normally dumb stuff, however this time I didn't hold the fabric scrap with a pair of tongs. I did remember to do the burn test over the sink, which was a good thing. Good, because the fabric I thought was cotton wasn't, and it went woof. Bad stuff - the melted polyester bead flew up in the air and then glued itself to one of the fingers on my left hand. Ow ow ow ow it burns it burns. Good stuff was having the presense of mind to turn on the cold water and get the finger in. Of course, I dropped the fabric piece in the sink, and down the drain it went. I was thinking that I need to test the fabric again, but then why? I know the result. Weird was prying the little bead of melted poly out of the top of my finger. That was strange. Now I have a nice, perfectly round, little burn on my finger. Dummy.

Dumb stuff #2 - I've decided to do (at long last) a long planned and long delayed embroidery project. While hunting for one of my stashes of embroidery floss, I stuck my hand into a box full of fabric odds and ends, and unfinished projects. Doh! Dummy! Impaled my hand (left hand of course) on a bunch of pins holding a long abandoned project together. Ow ow ow ow ow! Bad stuff - drew blood. Good stuff - didn't get any on the fabric (which was the important thing here).

Dumb stuff #3 - I've been drinking tea lately. Yum. But yesterday I had a craving for coffee, so I indulged. Had my last cup at something like 11:00 pm. Dummy. Caffiene + insomnia = Zandoria still being awake when hubby came home from work. At 6:30 in the morning. Dummy. Ultimately I did get about 6 hours of sleep, it just took me till just after noon to do it.

Good stuff - Finally hauled my sorry butt out of bed, came downstairs, to discover a dozen roses waiting for me. 6 red and 6 yellow. Gooey happiness results. When himself gets up at 4 pm (normal get out of bed time for someone who works 6 pm to 6 am), I ask him what the occasion was and he said just because. I say "Just because" and his response is "Just because I really appreciate what you've been doing around the house lately, the cooking and everything." The grocery store opens at 6 am and himself made a quick stop on the way home. (I do have to wonder what the cashier must have thought when a guy goes through the checkout at 6:15 am with nothing but a dozen roses). He says that he kind of likes having me home all the time, making him dinner every day and taking better care of him. Doesn't sound very liberated for a lady in this era, but I'm happy with the arrangement for now. And, I'll get a job if the need arises.

Good stuff #2 - The set up for the new embroidery project is going smoothly, with no glitches. While a large project, it should go quickly and I could, in fact, be done by the new year. Yay for speedy stem stitich!

Good stuff #3 - DECAF coffee. Nuff said, I plan on sleeping tonight. :)
