Tulane has decided to get rid of my major (mechanical engineering). In fact, they pretty much decimated the entire engineering program; I think the only ones that are left are biomedical and chemical engineering. The only good news is that I'm allowed to graduate with my major, as the changes won't be applied until 2007. This does, however, change my graduate degree plans. And puts a lot of professors out of jobs. And students out of majors. And pisses off everybody. Really, just listen: Tulane reorganized stuff to give a better experience for students, and cut five programs (just five), four just happen to be in engineering (which did not get damaged by the hurricane) and the last is sport sciences (which got wiped out by the flooding). I think Cowen (guy in charge who made decision) is scared of engineers. Sure, we weren't bringing in the money, but couldn't we spread out the major elimination?
In other news, sleep is great.
