Jennifer the Builder, part II

Whoo, it feels like it’s been ages since I last wrote an entry; I guess life just got really busy all of a sudden.

After going through some nuisances before my departure, I was greeted by Linda’s mushy rice in Cali. Haha, it makes me laugh just thinking about it. The few days that my mom stayed with us were pretty hectic, mainly with us running all over the place trying to make the apartment have a nice flow of “chi”. We bought a money tree to place in the “lucky” corner; it’s actually kind of nice to see a real plant indoors (apart from the ever-present bamboo plant).

Hmm… what else? The apartment is basically a rectangle, with a kitchen and a bathroom connected by doors, and a large window on one side. Somehow, after selling/giving away some of the old furniture, we’ve managed to fit in a larger desk, a futon, a coffee table/eating table, and several drawers. I’ll be building a couple more bookshelves and a TV stand in a few days, plus installing some towel hangers and shelves above the TV. I’ll take pics and upload them eventually.

So I’m kinda settled in. The majority of my clothes are still in a luggage somewhere, my books are in a pile on top of a bookshelf, and the things that I use frequently are stuffed in a bag. I’ve spent the past few days building furniture, looking into some lab jobs, organizing stuff, and cleaning the kitchen. Gods, that is a horrifying experience. I’m not completely finished, but there are just so MANY things there… I cleaned the fridge yesterday, and that in itself was a life-threatening situation (there were two large pots of something that Linda concocted a while ago, just waiting to be opened…). *shivers*

Yesterday, a bunch of Linda’s friends held some “Iron Chef” event, and Linda, Tiffany (another one of Linda’s friends), and I were judges. The secret ingredient was mango (courtesy of Vision), and the dishes were amusing, so to say. It was really funny, and I got to meet some upperclassmen with lots of advice. :D Anything to survive out here!

Some of the outlets in the apartment went out for a bit, so we had to rewire everything to the working outlets. Linda’s making a pot roast at the moment, so I guess I should rewire everything back to normal…?

Happy 21st birthday, Max! Hope you don’t end up reading books the whole day!
