Little Brown Sketchbook Pt.1

Jan 08, 2010 16:17

At the beginning of this past fall semester, I bought a little sketchbook made up of recycled brown kraft paper. I've been toying with the idea of making one, but buying a ready made one for $1.65 turned out to be easier. I decided to treat this book without care. In other words, to just draw. Draw whatever so long as I put things down on paper. Worked out quite well I think. The brown paper forced me to think slightly differently and I practiced some of the techniques I had learned back in basic drawing classes. Best of all, I finished it a few days ago. Whoo!

So here are the silly doodles and what not I drew in my little brown sketchbook. I'll be posting four pages a day.

Cover and first page. Most exciting! ;P

What I like about these first drawings is that I was getting away from making tight drawings and was really loose about it, er, minus the Leo. I was even adding in my scribbles and piling them over images. Good mini exercise.
