Gundam Seed Destiny

JC has me watching Gundam Seed Destiny. I admit I'm not the biggest robot or mecha fan. Sure, I watched Robocop as a kid and enjoy Terminator, but I never really got into Transformers and much less into the Gundam series. So when he said he really wanted to share this mecha experience with me I bit my lip, smiled, and agreed. All for love, right?

The first disc was pretty boring. Slow intro to a bunch of characters running around and fighting in ridiculously giant robots that make no sense. Hooray. Come the second disc, things started to pick up and what's this? Was I actually enjoying this? Yes, I was. Come disc six I was completely lost into it and those giant robots started looking like the coolest things since the portable walk-man! Come disc nine, I was gone. Completely gone! We had to stop into the second episode of disc nine because it was late and I needed to come home. Now I'm here wondering where the heck this new plot twist is going to lead and if anyone is going to clear up this mess and save the day.

Fine. I admit it. He was right. Gundams are pretty cool, but it is the characters driving the mobile suits that really drag you into the series.

Some characters are super annoying and need to be hit though. Seriously. Like, with a metal baseball bat with rusted nails jutting from it.
