I signed up for my classes. Quantitative Analysis this spring (hopefully I figure out some way to still get to Rag), and Biochemistry I, Elementary Statistics, and Microbiology (with lab) in the fall. After I con my way out of General Chemistry I Lab (I got credit for the lecture through AP and have taking the second lab, as well as Organic Chemistry Lab) and English Comp II (which I was told I am exempt from by my ACT scores), I'll have all the classes I need to get my Bio degree with a minor in Chem.
Classes are going pretty well. SEM is fun, as I'm doing my independent experiment right now. I'm looking for obvious morphological differenced between mosses with and without cellulose-synthase-like H genes. Unfortunately, after I had prepped my moss samples, I realized the tubes I was give weren't well labeled. I need to either get new samples and redo the treatment (which takes a total of three days, one of which actually requires about 6 hours on that day) or get some primer and check for gene amplification (which will take a few days for the shipping, a day to run with lots of down time, and probably cost me $15 if I can use my genome analysis class's buffer, nucleotides, Taq polymerase, and thermocycler). Projects aren't due for a few more weeks, but I really need to get started on the lab report and power point presentation some time soon-ish.
I'm hoping that since I don't have a final exam on the last day of genome analysis, I won't have class and will thus be able to go to Gates of Fire on Thursday night/Friday morning. I've pretty much only been able to get some sparring in since the Eryndor Closer, so I've barely picked up my spear. Hopefully I'll be able to get back out to practices soon, as I'm getting ridiculously out of shape.
