Ice cube trays

So.... If I'm going to make my own baby food... You think I can put the stuff in an ice cube tray so I have nice small portions I can unfreeze as needed? Will that work (avacados, sweet potatos...)?

Pictures.., cause I can! ;o) )

I do Tiber's food like this.

Blend.

Pour into ice-cube trays and cover.

Let freeze.

Store in freezer bags.

Microwave for 30 seconds and stir when you want to defrost them.

Never had a problem with freezer burn and Babies R Us even have ice cube trays with lids if you are concerned.

Great recipes:

Sweet Potato & Apples
Carrots & Apples
Sweet Potato and Chicken
Sweet Potato & Turkey
Avocado and Banana (this may turn brown in the freezer, but still ediable)

SQUEEEEEEEEEEE baby photos and big proud brother! ADORABLE.

Ha! I was actually just on that website. I'm just looking to start getting stuff together for her cause she hates the rice cereal. I'm thinking if I buy stuff to make it will be cheaper and make the rest of us eat better cause I can just make extra. We really eat pretty crappy... Especially lately and Liam literally gags on things. He's sooo picky unless it's pasta, pbnj, pizza, cooked carrots, banana, oatmeal... Some chicken... Whatever it's limited. He used to eat them when he had no choice... Haha. I need to change this!

Add apple, pear or banana to the rice cereal. Or even carrots! They're nice and sweet and my kids would eat that combo quite readily even though they wouldn't eat the rice cereal just by itself.

Great idea. I don't want to waste the cereal I bought.

We tried that with Tiber, adding fruit to the cereal....still no go. I figure rice cereal wasn't around a 100 years ago so he's fine with the veggies, meat and fruit and my Pedi said that was fine too. It's worth a go though, every baby is different.

Yeah, I only did that until I went through the packet of cereal, then just switched to "real food". As you say, every kid is different, some of them won't touch solids of any kind for absolute ages, others have to be started on them earlier and they all want different stuff.

Liam was fine with the rice cereal and I bought The gerber stuff with him. He was such a wonderfully easy baby. I remember thinking that I was so spoiled with him. He slept through the night at 2 1/2 months old and was just an all around chill baby. He just sort of hung out. :sigh: Aine is a bit more.... High maintenance ... She's totally a mama's baby. Haha She keeps me extremely busy. It's a good thing she's cute!

Yeah, Matt was definitely a lot more chilled out than Lara, too. Though he didn't sleep through the night for absolute ages. Not until he was weaned at 10 months old. He liked his 3am feed+mummy time too much. Lara slept through the night fairly quickly but was a whole lot more high maintenance during the day. And he's still the more laid back of the two of them. If I ask him to do something he doesn't want to do, he just sighs and says "yeah... I guess..." and shuffles off to do it. Lara, on the other hand, carries on like a pork chop if she doesn't want to do something.
