Life, Death and people who talk your bloody ear off

Well, this has been an interesting week. I just sent the email stating I won't be able to do the SGA Santa. :( I will keep the request - who knows? I might get inspired.

My husband had an old CRT monitor for his second monitor, and CompUSA had a test of the emergency-black-friday system or something by sending out an email the afternoon before, that they were having a sale on certain things, limited quantities, the next morning! So, being that I was *unbeknownst to me* getting sick, and obviously bored and in need of excitement, I got up at 4:30am and went to the store! Yeah, no one was there yet. LOL So, I went to McD's which is 24 hours here, and then checked again. Nope. Went home, ate my food and watched "Sanctuary". Lay in bed until about 6am, (it was cold!) then went back. There was 1 person, and I saw some cars so I decided to stay. Of course, I had to get in line and have someone come behind me who had absolutely no clue about body language or how to conduct a proper conversation. (i.e. - let me actually *talk*) It was the longest two hours of my life. The joy of his British-type accent only lasted me maybe 45 min tops. :) He was older, with big glasses and a Microsoft certified Reseller. *thud*
But, I got the monitor for dirt cheap (19" LCD for $70) plus picked up a DVD burner for $2 because they weren't letting people have a freebie with the monitor. Whatever.

Our TV has been going for awhile. Every input except the cable is un-watchable now, and finally even that one was going. So, same store had good price on a comparably-sized DLP, so we bought that yesterday. No, it's not the smallest amount of money, but it is at least $800 less than we spent on the previous rear-projection we had, and it's new. The other one was a refurb, hence the price. (10 years ago or so) OMG. I am so totally in luuuurve with this TV! :) I think it's partially having had the other one for so long. This one is a 1080p (part of our deciding to buy it) and it is so crystal clear. Jeez. It's a 60" and I swear when we first got it and started watching the football, I thought I was in the studio w/ Dan Marino! Wow. Our HD really, actually, *looks* like HD now. Amazing. Suck part is it isn't a floor-standing TV (what is, anymore?) So now you can see into my office from the top. (we put it on what is supposed to be the coffee table) And it hangs over our lovely frame-job on the sides. Oh well. We know a carpenter now. We have plans... muhahaha!

Then, of course, Appliance Direct (our 'outlet' store here) decided to start their next Scratch-n-Dent sale, today. Pffft. And I was going to go, but I found out about a lunch network last-minute and was able to do it, so I put it off. And, I'm glad. Because our truck is broken. :( I don't know what it is, we have to tow it in to the shop tomorrow - but it won't start. Won't even turn over. I will definately be going without a stove for Christmas, which sucks. I really was looking forward to some cookie-baking! Good news is, I think they will probably have another Scratch-dent sale close to my birthday. And yes, it's pathetic to want a stove for your birthday, but when you enjoy cooking and baking - it's kinda not that nuts! I haven't had one for like, 2 years now!

Things are so crazy. I haven't read my friends page in awhile - I apologize guys! Could anyone tell me - if I try to watch Friday's "Atlantis" should I have a stiff drink and/or a stress ball handy?!
