You can see the venom in their eyes

Hello again.  Definitely meant to update this weekend but you know how that goes.

Friday I came back into the BC, which was an uneventful trip as always.  I must say it's really really nice not to have to take a taxi and two airplanes every time I want to visit my family.  Mmmm east coast.  Went to our lawyer and signed my will (you fuckers aren't getting a cent) and an advanced directive--which I'd forgotten about and had a teensy weensy internal freakout as I was signing it.  It's one thing to talk about how you don't want heroic measures in the even that you're a vegetable, it's another thing to actually sign the little piece of paper that says "Kill me if I'm a vegetable!"  But I got that taken care of, at any rate.

Whilst I was waiting to collect Bre from the Clubhouse so that we could go see Snakes on a Motherfucking Plane, Genevieve from my lab called and officially offered me a job with the lab for this year.  And I officially accepted.  So starting in October I'll be working for them full-time and going to class full-time.  And by Thanksgiving I'll be dead.  Hahaha.  But I'm very excited, because full-time labwork is good for the vita and good for the wallet.  Last year was my little vacation that I allowed myself and now it's time to get back into working and schooling like a maniac.  Unfortunately this means that I can't join community band, but maybe I can do something in the spring once the thesis and grad school applications have quieted down.

Snakes on a Plane was everything I expected it to be-- namely, ridiculous, violent, full of more plot holes than...a film with a lot of plot holes, whimsical, and creative in its methods of dispatching ethnically stereotypical characters.  Worth my $10.  Our showing was pretty empty, but the audience was fairly into it, and everyone clapped at "the line" and when
the Paris Hilton dog got eaten , so it was a good time.  Afterwards we met up with Colleen at TGA, where we had substandard buenos nachos and dessert.

Saturday I did chores around the house and then we went to the Grange Fair, and I saw the governor (who was over an hour late, the jerk).  We also visited Bob at Best Buy, which is always a good time, and I got new earphones.  My crazy aunt also came down, which is always trying.

Sunday was Mass, and I ran a few errands and then watched The Constant Gardener with my mom and aunt.  I enjoyed it, and it was on my list of "Movies I want to see at some point."  I also saw half of Inside Man but I wasn't paying enough attention to it so I was surprised at the abrupt ending.  Monday I helped my mom move one of those huge metal cabinets out of the basement (oy vey) and other miscellaneous housework, so basically a repeat of Saturday morning, then went to dinner with Bre.

And now I'm back in the city.  And work work work until September.  It's almost time for football!!
