"STOP! I want to take a picture of the bus."
OR "Can we go to Monk's from Seinfeld?"
OR "Where's 'Hewston' Street?"
OR "Are we going to the ghetto?"
"*sigh* tourists."
Phew it's been a crazy week.
Sartaj and Patricia, two of my closest three friends from The Before-Before Time (a.k.a. Tejas) along with Sartaj's boyfriend Yusuf, came to visit starting Friday, and left this morning at 0550. I played super New York tourguide, dragging them all over creation and going to museums, as well as the Empire State Building--which I will never ever ever go to in the summer again. EVER. We waited on line for two hours just to buy the tickets. Atrocious. It also did not help that we had the delightful record-high temperatures with which to contend. But it was nice to finally meet Yusuf, about whom I'd heard so much and who was the most excellent houseguest (cleaned up after himself, helped with the dishes etc.- props to his mom), and it was great to see the girls for the first time since Beth's wedding last May. Yay!
And Colleen arrives tomorrow! Yay again!! I'm glad that since she has actually been to New York before that I won't have to do the uber-tourism view of the city again. Because guess what we're not going to the Empire State Building in this rifuckulous weather and this rifuckulous tourist season. Haaaatred.
In academic news (thanks for the words of encouragement, Laura, it's true I am the procrastination goddess), I got an email from my advisor about "hey let's meet soon to talk!" and I proceeded to have a panic attack. And maybe a stroke. So after I vacuum and swiffer the apartment again tomorrow, I'll head off to the library to print out a bunch of articles that I can read during downtime moments, and I figure I can put off emailing him back until like maybe tomorrow or Friday and claim I was away and without internet...and then maybe say it'll be a few more days until I'm back in the city. Shit shit shit. Haha I'm so bad at this.
academia,
