I saw The Corporation the other night. Very good film. Two critiques though: first, it's just too long, drags in the second half. Second, while it's critique of capitalism and of the corporation is right on, the solution presented is very reformist ( Read more... )

I just want to point out that corporate capitalism is only one of the possible types of capitalism.

I am pretty sure that I have denounced corporate capitalism in your presence.
I will see if I can get a hold of it and take a look.

And yes, that is merely one of the big problems...that corps were supposedly set up to protect the rights of the individuals making up the corporation (e.g. which individual could pay back a 5 million dollar loss...not too many) but instead they protect people from responsibility for the terrible things that they do when running corps.

I was thinking watching the movie that it kept stopping short from identifying the deeper problems of capitalism and private property, focusing instead on the corporation. Obviously you won't see it that way. I see the corporation as an integral part of capitalism. What would non-corporate capitalism look like?
