The Corporation

I saw The Corporation the other night. Very good film. Two critiques though: first, it's just too long, drags in the second half. Second, while it's critique of capitalism and of the corporation is right on, the solution presented is very reformist.

The goods far outweigh the bads though. The critique of the shareholder system is very solid, and I challenge any of the capitalists who read this to watch this movie and respond to it. The film's argument is made particularly strong through it's use of sources within the capitalist establishment - CEOs, Harvard economics professors, stock brokers, etc.

I'm also interested to hear someone from the right explain the discrepancy in the right's view of individual crime and corporate crime. Why do the same people who support harsh punishments for common criminals, not seem terribly concerned about the vast number of corporations convicted for fraudulent accounting, environmental violations, and safety violations, as well as defrauding the government and trading with the enemy?
