Apple Tree.

What you can't see, will hurt you.

-----------------------------
Darkness surrounded her. What had happened. She reached down, running her fingers over her small bump. She couldn't place together anything that had happened. Just a huge bump on the head.

"Nikki. You're finally awake, we thought you might of thought of sleeping all day." A voice from nowhere spoke.

"What? Who are you? Where am I?" She began to panic.

"Don't worry, this will all be over soon."

The light shut off, a sigh of relief suppressing from her lips, hoping that they wouldn't hurt her again. Hopefully at least. Clutching her stomach, she turned to her her side, letting out a sigh as she stared off into the blackness, knowing that they were staring at her, she didn't dare move, in fear of what they would do.

Slowly, but surely, she slipped into a deep sleep, letting the mild thoughts of death and being in the darkened room for the rest of.. their life.

--

"Zachary. Wake up, wake up, wake up.." His mother coaxed in his ear, eager to tell him about the news. More like, 'Zachary, your fiance has gone missing. Congrats' which wasn't the exactly best thing to tell him.

"Ten more minutes Ma." He said, lifting a hand sleepily, waving his hand before stuffing his head back into the pillow. He cringed, feeling a slap on the back of his head. Groaning, he sat up. "What Ma?" He said, rubbing his eyelids. "What Ma?" He said, squinting his eyes closed, leaning back until his neck hit the headboard.

"Wake up first, get dressed and come down stairs, then I'll tell you." She said simply, brushing his bangs away from his forehead as she leaned in, kissing the area. "Keep up beat baby boy." She whispered, walking out of the room, leaving Zac confused.

He shook his head, stepping from his sheets, half tripping over the sheets the wrapped around his foot. He sloppily untied his foot, quickly running into the bathroom, taking a shower, dressing and running down the stairs, his flip-flopped feet padding against the floorboards.

As he descended down the stairs, he saw his mothers hands on her lap, her head looking down. His father's arm was around her shoulders and they looked like they were crying. Even Dylan looked like he was the slightest bit sad, if that was at all possible. He let out a breath, causing all eyes to hit on him. He bit down on his lip, fiddling with his promise ring, something Nikki had given him a couple years before, walking towards the crowd.

"Zachary." His mother said, looking up at him. "We have to tell you something." Her lip quivered.

"Sit down son, get comfortable." His dad instructed, looking at him sternly. Zac's hands fell to his side as he looked back, backing up towards the chair, sitting down, the same confused expression appearing on his face.

"Zachary," his mother started again. "I don't exactly know how to tell you this." She breathed, looking over at her husband, who in response, grabbed one of her hands and squeezed, his arm still laying across his shoulder. "Honey.. It's Nikki."

Zac shot up, his eyes bulging. "Nikki?" He croaked, clearing his throat. As far as he knew, she was filming, and out of the public eye, what had happened, had they lost the baby already? He bit his lip further, attempting to stop his tears.

"She's.." Starla closed her eyes, her own tears running down her cheeks. "She went missing this morning." She cried, leaning her head into David's awaiting chest, crying as hard as she could. Zac looked at her blankly, his eyes widened. He didn't know what to say or do.

She was gone.. she was gone. He kept repeating the same words in his head, rubbing his temples, tears running down his cheeks. Why her, why now. He couldn't bare the thought, standing up slowly he tore into the kitchen, his mother running behind him.

"Leave me alone." He grumbled, walking further into the kitchen, his hair in a messy, his eyes red rimmed. He couldn't believe that she had gone missing. He missed her so much. Clutching his chest, he sat down at the table, leaning his head into his hands, crying.

--

"Nicole.." The voice coaxed her awake.

"What was that?" Her head shot around, not seeing anyone.

"Nicole.." The voice coaxed again.

"H-Hello?" She whispered, closing her eyes as tight as she could, she felt herself tremble as the lights flicked on, revealing a tall man, a bucket in hand.

"Wake up sweetheart," he sounded trusting, but at this point, she didn't think she could trust anyone, she looked away, down at the cuts that lined her arms, she felt her stomach growl of hunger.

"Go away," she said softly, tears rushing to the surface.

"I can't." He looked at her in the eye. "You need help," he added, pointing at one of her wounds.

"I'll live," she said finally, leaning back.

"No you won't, Nicole, I know what they are doing to you, I'm a good guy, and if I get my way, at the end of the day, I'll be able to fix your wounds." He said, slowly pressing invisible looking bandages over the wounds, Nikki hissing slightly. "It'll be okay." He whispered against her ear, slowly giving her a piece of bread, she greedily bit into it, relishing in the taste.

"Thank you," she whispered.

"No problem, now eat up." He whispered. "Before they come, I'm going to wait here, and if I see them, and you're still eating, we both could get in trouble, okay?" She nodded in response, eating another piece. "Now, finish up, I'll be over there."

She nodded, eating another piece, after another, slowly eating the bread, her stomach growling the whole time.

--

Zac leaned back, stretching. He was still half heartedly hoping that the previous night was a dream and that Nikki was really lying beside him, her hands pressed against the small bump that had started to form into her skin.

As he looked over, she wasn't there. He could feel his eyes water, why did she have to leave, why couldn't she of waited until he had to go there. He knew his parents had told him it wasn't his fault; still feeling the same, he looked around the room, exhaling. He knew it was his fault. It had to be.

He was the one, after all, who had told her that he would keep her safe, no matter what, he had made that promise, and now that she was missing, he could basically say it was his fault. He knew, even if people told him different, that he was to blame, that he was the cause, he somehow knew somebody very close to him had organized it.

But who?

He couldn't think of anyone off the top of his head who would really want to hurt Nikki; everyone loved her. Besides a few fans, who still after everything hated Nikki because of the fact that she apparently ruined the infamous 'Zanessa' couple. Everyone was over that now, it wasn't like anybody in particular would-

He stopped midthought, inhaling a quick, short breath. He knew exactly who did this. And he knew exactly where he or she was. Clenching his fists, he grabbed the keys to his car, walking out of the door and into his car. There was no way he could let this person get off so easily. He kept his breath at a steady pace, feeling his heartbeat slowly start to increase, then decrease again. He couldn't believe that the person would do this. What was with them.

Before he could place together anymore thoughts, he pressed the gas pedal, bringing him into the traffic. His car suddenly stopped. "Come on you piece of shit," he mumbled, biting furiously at his lip. He looked back and forth, seeing a transport truck coming towards the driver. He quickly undid his belt, slipping over to the passenger side. He could see the transport truck try to slow down, but it only increased his speed. The door wouldn't open. "Shit, shit, shit." He moved his hand back and forth. It was too late, the transport truck slammed into the side, sending his car flying.

All he remembered was the slight sound of Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
