1-1-1 Kojiki, Genesis, Gods' Age Seven Ages
The beginning of the world...
Before our world began; before the earth even hardened it was a simple cloud like thing, light and fluffy.
In this time, light pure things ascended to become 'heaven', while heavy dirty things sank to become 'earth'.
When the division between heaven and earth was largely defined three lights began to shine in Takama Plain, the most exalted region of the sky.
The light was the god Amenomi Nakanushi (Master in Heaven).
To the right and left were the gods Takami Musubi Nokami and Kami Musubi Nokami whose light twinkled out like evening stars above the yet infirm earth.
The gods silently opened their eyes and beheld the distant lower world.
The world, shivering and shaking just like a jellyfish floating in an ocean gave no hint as to what sort of world it could become.
"This won't do. We must show our strength and quickly build a respectable world," the gods thought.
These gods known as the Three Pillars put forth their best effort hurling that which was heavy and sinful down and raising that which was light and pure up and in this way the world became ever brighter and clearer than it had been before.
Then it happened. The gods discovered something mysterious like they had never before seen.
When they unearthed it from this still squishy ground, something like a reed sprout immediately shot up towards the Takama Plain.
"Oh my, oh my, what in the world could this be?" The gods stared in surprised wonder as the reed sprout continued to grow until finally it reached the Takama Plain. Upon arriving the reed sprout instantly disappeared with a 'pa' and in its place a beautiful young he-god appeared.
The Three Pillars were overcome with joy upon seeing this.
"O! The earth has yet the strength to give birth to new gods. From now this young god shall carry forth our work, his shall be the job of defining heaven and earth. Let us reside in Takama Plain and lend aid to this young immortal," they said and bestowed upon the youthful god the name Umashi Ashi Kabi Hikodi Nokami.
The young god was sent directly to the continuation of the work.
As the world gradually began to clear, Earth God, Plant God, Animal God and more were born. Gathering their strength and showing their spirit the distinction between heaven and earth became clear, the sky became blue and cool breezes began to blow.
About this time a new he-god and she-god came to be born.
The he-god was named Izanagi Nomikoto.
The she-god was name Izanami Nomikoto.
The light from these gods was such that the light in the world grew much greater and joyful voices of the other gods was great enough to move those living in the Takama Plain.
"O! Some fine gods have been born. Well, this calls for something we have long been developing. Now, he-god and she-god. This time the task will be yours to properly firm up the earth. And to hurry up and make it into a respectable world," and the gods bequeathed unto them a fine halberd glit with jewels. The Heaven-Mud Spear.
