latin

So there's this rather large tree in my front yard that's probably 5 or 6 feet at it widest diameter, and probably somewhere around 50 feet tall (although it's hard to tell). Well that tree looks rather larger when it's lying on its side across my porch. I spent yesterday going a great deal of cutting and stacking and burning. On the plus side dad had told me a couple of days before the big wind storm that he was thinking about putting a wood stove in. I now told him that usually you get the stove before you get the wood, but hey to each their own. Despite the devastation that now sits on and around the front of our house, I actually think that if dad plays his cards right he could potentially come out on top with the insurance company. He was planning on re-roofing the porch anyway; if he does it right he could get them to pay for it. On the other hand I always rather liked that tree, it was big and old and kind of gnarly. I like those kinds of trees. Oh well.

I never realized latin dances are were so much fun. See, when I was younger I never went because I don't know that much latin, I know mostly standard (i.e. waltz, foxtrot, tango, etc.). But it suddenly occurred to me that at these latin dances there's no room to move around much anyway, so you don't need to know much latin because you can't really do any of it anyway. Hence it suddenly becomes quite fun for me. I've never seen the USABDA group outside of the USABDA dances, they're a crazy fun bunch. I think I may go to the next one too. I recommend everyone else does too. It's a good time.
